I have read an article on the internet in which Toby King suggests he might leave us after his testimonial season in 2025. He's been a good servant, some highs, some lows, but overall a good player for us.

To be honest when he went to Wigan on loan for the entire 2023 season I thought we would lose him permanently then to them, I suppose he could return in 2026.

I would like to see us hang on to him. I suppose it comes down to whether he wants to stay and whether he figures in the coaches plans for 2026. If we don't keep him then I think he'll go back to Wigan or go to  home town Huddersfield to link up with his brother George again.

Who would like to see Toby King in their team in 2026?

I don't feel he's ever kicked on to be a top class centre. Hard working, solid, but probably that's his level. He's probably relatively fortunate that we don't have a load of.topnquality centres right now.

He did a really good job at Wigan, but is clearly not in the same class as Wardle. He showed he is not a weak link in a strong side, but is not a difference maker. I had the impression he was on a very large contract, hence his being shunted around. Wigan may be interested, and he may be interested in Wigan. I am not sure what Keighran’s contractual position is, as we don’t need them both of course. Plus, Eckersley is developing, which may make him surplus to our requirements.

I would be happy for him to be in the Warrington team. He shouldn't be taking up so much of the cap though.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Yeah I wasn't fussed either way about him staying at Wigan. He did a job for us but between him and Wardle he was definitely the lesser of the two.

Not sure, he didn't stand out in 2022 for us on loan but if he could capture his Wigan and mid-Wire years he'd be a good signing for most clubs.

I'd give him another chance if we signed him though, home grown lad and all that.

Salford.

I don't think they will be in SL so I don't see him going there.

He is a Huddersfield lad but I thought he came through the Wire system.

No, they bought him and George from our Academy.

Good solid, skilful centre.  His genuine lack of pace for me marks him down as definitely NOT a marquee player though.  Unless you have a clown as a CEO….which we sadly do.

Putting to one side the silly salary issue (which is absolutely not his fault) he's a slightly above average centre who has skill under the high ball, but has lost some pace.

Coming through the ranks we have the outstanding Lindop, who is top class in all areas of his game, and Wrench, who is a brilliant attacking centre but needs a bit of work on defensive positioning (a bit harsh as he hasn't really had a long run at centre).   Both these players are from the town too.

King can offer a utility back-up role for me, but he'd have to come cheap.   I can see Chambers favouring the next generation <<<cracks open a Pepsi and smiles at camera>>>.

Not quite correct, he signed as a 16 year old and George joined the following year.

I presume Wigan will put their trust in Zach Eckersley if Keighran heads home and give him the 3 shirt. That would leave only the possibility of either being back up or potentially forcing out Miski and Eckersley then going on to the wing. It's not beyond the realms but I presume he'll get an offer as a starting player elsehwere. I would be happy to see him back in the Wigan squad in 2026 but I wouldn't be surpised if he ends up at Saints. English centres are thin on the ground and signing one to replace Hurrell, would open up a quota spot to use in another position.

I can't speak for Saints fans of course, but I would bet my last dollar on them wanting an exciting centre who creates opportunities for his winger.   I'm more concerned if Warrington keep King that Saints will sniff around Wrench, who is off contract at the end of this year.

Agree with all points generally.

For Wigan, if he made a successful switch to being a second row (do I remember right he could fill in there?) then he would have more of a chance at this club.

But that’s not really in the player’s best interests as we aren’t overburdened with proven homegrown centres in Super League.

My hunch? Imagine Wire are favourites to retain him. This time, reportedly, with a more measured contract. Reason being Warrington are altogether different to the club King left temporarily.

Wire paid a fee to Huddersfield for both their contracts.

Second row is the major position Wigan probably need to keep a really close eye on over this next season or two. Faz getting no younger, Walters hasn't really proven much yet and then there are a couple of young options. Nsemba is an incredible talent but that NRL threat likely to always be there, even with the new deal.
