Favourite NRL Team

I watch it now and again, not as much as I’d like to due to lack of time. My favourite team are the NZ Warriors, mainly because I’ve always thought (rightly or wrongly) that a strong NRL team in NZ would help strengthen and expand the game there.

Nah, no interest.

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

Current favourite team for me is Canberra for obvious reasons.

My team used to be Penrith after Soward returned to the NRL to play for them from us.

Have previously supported the Warriors when Tomkins was out there, so I guess you can see where I get my loyalities from ...

Melbourne Storm... my wife went to live in Melbourne for 9 months when we first met back in 2003 while i was playing at South London Storm and bought me a Melbourne Storm shirt for my birthday that year.. followed them ever since.. before that i sort of followed Penrith a little bit as liked the shirt.. but it was only a passing interest.

I love the NRL, it is an unbelievable standard of rugby and fantastic entertainment. Everyone is perfectly entitled to their own preferences but I struggle to get my head around why a Rugby League fan wouldn't enjoy the games the NRL offer up.

From a supporting perspective, on any given match I support the team with the largest English representation and for the season the most English involvement so this coming year it is the Raiders.

It's the best league in our sport. I'd struggle to understand why anybody wouldn't follow it to be honest?

In terms of teams I follow, similarly to Dunbar I've always watched mainly the sides that have British players. Because of that, over the past 3 seasons watching the Raiders as much as I have i've now fully adopted them as my team. The Sydney bubble doesn't interest me and the Broncos already have a huge fanbase. This year I'll also be keeping a close eye on how the GC Titans go on with Holbrook as coach and hopefully a resurgence in form for Watkins - anything outside the bottom 2 will be a success for them IMO.

I've always liked Canberra, but they were so frustrating to watch 'til quite recently. The British contingent helps too.

NZ Warriors have had so many underwhelming seasons, I find it harder and harder to summon up the interest these days. I remember watching their 2002 Grand Final in a Walkabout with some other TRL members, and it looked then like they'd become a force in the game, but no.

I always liked the suburban Sydney teams for some reason, with the grassy hill stands.  Always seemed most atmospheric and colourful.  Wests / Manly.  Also liked Manly when they had Jamie Lyon too, played pretty expansive footy.   Also Canberra as they're semi-expansion, got a bit of history, cool green kit and a rah rah club in the city to compete with, even more so now they're packed with poms.

I don't have a favourite, as such, but prefer the non-Sydney clubs, with the Dragons the exception.

NQC, NZ, CanR, StG and BrisB are the ones I make a point of watching.

On the reverse I dislike Manly and East.

I wouldn't worry about following the Dragons - most of their fans would tell you they're not a Sydney club anyway ?

The Bulldogs, mainly due to the connection with Fax back in the glory days

My favourite team is the Gold Coast Titans, who I've always enjoyed watching.

Maybe it's because I'm an eternal optimist.

Straight after the Super League Grand Final I told Justin Holbrook that he shouldn't let me down.

I’ve heard you on podcasts, if that is an eternal optimist speaking, I’m glad I’m not one.
