London Broncos Moving Update

Just looking at their recent “likes” on Twitter - they recently liked some blokes picture of him with a spliff hanging out his face with a caption of “Glass of Coca Cola and big fat doooooobi listening to ‘What’s the story’ now that’s 🎧Rock and Roll🎧”

Just went to have a look. It's not something that's going to offend me but on what planet would the clubs official account liking something like that be OK?

I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks.

I sense it may be a mistake, a slip of a finger perhaps, but yeah, not okay at all and I’m not bothered/offended by that thing.

I do get that this sort of thing happens, especially when scrolling on a smartphone. However I happen to check my twitter likes periodically for this sort of thing, and I'm not the marketing manager of a club with Super League aspirations, I'm an idiot.

I'm quietly confident David Hughes doesn't run the Twitter account or set the Broncos PR and marketing  strategy. The issues flagged here have little directly to do with him.

If you mean the day to day management, they are salaried employees and I doubt they are investing (throwing away) large sums on the club.

I'm also not sure it's a dislike issue. I've never met the Commercial Manager or CEO. I have met David and he came across well.

It's more a despair issue. The club is making the same mistakes yet again, reducing the chance of their being a club in a few years time.

For the better part of the last decade I've had corporate social media accounts on my phone as well as my own. I once RT'd something from the corporate account that I really shouldn't have done (nothing majorly offensive but it could have been severely damaging as it was political in nature). It took about five minutes to delete it as my WiFi went and then about ten minutes of watching closely to check no one had picked it up and/or taken a screenshot.

For something that unprofessional to stay visible says a lot about the priorities of the people involved.

On the occasions that I’ve covered the tweets for my non-league football club, I’ve made sure I’ve completely logged out of that account before I want to write a personal tweet or even scroll through in case I like something on the wrong account. Common sense if nothing else.

Yup. Only needed to make the mistake once to ensure it never happened again.

Yes, two or three people have made the club homeless without a plan.

The alternative of continuing to grow the community side of the club whilst building attendances does sound awful in comparison.

I agree with this. As far as I know attendances at Trailfinders were steadily going up each season we were there?

Unbelievably the person reported on this thread as controlling Broncos social media has liked a message on another forum. In that thread it clearly states the club has liked an inappropriate message.

As of ten seconds ago, London Broncos are still liking that tweet. Put simply,  a club official has been notified and, irrespective of whether he personally liked it or not, has failed to get it deleted.

I can't believe a club I have spent over two decades supporting has sunk to these depths.

Around the time that the Broncos were at the Hive I felt like they'd effectively ceased operating as a club and become almost a cargo cult version of a rugby club. Here's a website, here's some players, here's a name on the shirt but beyond that ... nothing.

We seem to be hurtling headlong back to that.

Yep. New website coming apparently. Then there'll be talk of a Loubser 5-year plan. A fantastic new stadium, new partnerships. But we'll still have a back office of only 1 or 2 staff. Cargo cult, indeed.

In other words no viable investment.

If there had to be a club in London it needed investment and support.

The RLF had some £20 million a season available from the TV contract.  That's the RFL money, not the SL.  Getting on for £100 million. How did it waste it?  It certainly did not produce any concrete results.

Could you London people be so kind as to keep us updated on whether the Challenge Cup game is to be played on a Saturday or a Sunday ,for those of us who may have essential work.

Whether or not standing on the roof of a Transit van will be enough to view the game,or whether the upstairs of a double decker bus is required?

Are there any high-rise flats overlooking the playing pitch?

This type of information is very important. Thanks in anticipation.

If no-one is in attendance at the opening games then they will be played at the Richmond Athletic Ground as TV facilities there are better than would be the case at Rosslyn Park.

Does it have the right facilities to fulfil the covid protocols though

I never made it to Trailfinders. Unlike all the other Bronoco homes this one was just too much of a ball ache to get to on a Sunday. Plough Lane will be easier and looks a nice ground so me and the boy will get to some games (it will help us fill all those gaps in the L1 schedule). I'm not sure our addition of two spectators will offset the downside...

I would love to see a ten year plan to build the club to match the lease.
