Of those no longer with us, the most famous would probably be Colin Welland (born Newton-le-Willows, Warrington supporter) and also his mate Brian Glover. Interestingly, Brain was from Barnsley and had never been to a game until he was cast in the London run of 'Up and Under' when he and another member of the cast thought that they'd better go to a game and went to Fev one afternoon. Apparently, the sound of a tackle in the play was done by hitting a turnip with a wooden mallet!

Is Bradley Wiggins still a fan? There was a time where he got as much screen time as half the Wigan team during a game on Sky.

Yeh but he has sort of kept a low profile after the suspicions were raised over the contents of “that package “.

What’s Hepton got to do with France, was he in Allo Allo?

Talking of Allo Allo, Gorden Kaye (René) was from Huddersfield and played RL as a junior for Moldgreen.

Dean Richards (top footballer, sadly deceased), Basil Richards (Warrington) and Craig Richards (Bradford Northern  and current England Ladies  manager) were all brothers.

Honestly didn’t know that about Dean richards.

Obscure?

Are you ready...!?

Remember the sitcom Brush Strokes? OK, probably not.

But if you do, do you remember the guy who played Jacko's mate (Mike Walling)? Again, probably not.

Used to see  him regularly at London games back in the Copthall era.

Alastair Campbell is a big fan of the game and always speaks highly of it

He’s been tweeting loads about Rugby League these past few weeks.

Roy Keane named Rugby League as one of his top 3 sports to watch on Monday Night Football last night (along with American Football and Hurling).
