I will initially apologise in advance here and now if I am posting on the wrong thread. I do not do Facebook and my incoming post is WT related. So just decided to vent my spleen on this thread. Ok first of all I do not have any personal issues with any individual at WT. However to say I am gutted at the current goings on is an understatement. My father in law is 82 years of age and a season ticket holder for donkey’s years along with other members of the immediate family. He is absolutely distraught at the current situation. I have said from day one that somebody has some inside information regarding the future IMG structure. They must have as we are currently just accepting relegation 0-14 says it all. I am neither a Mash lover or basher. One thing baffled me at Newcastle. In the grand scheme of things it is nothing. However the experienced hooker Hood played the initial 50 mins. I will let others judge his performance. The younger understudy Bowes came on at 50 mins and was withdrawn at 72 mins - Why? Just leave him on to gain even more valuable developmental minutes. We were getting pumped anyway. So I would like Mash to explain that one and believe me when I see him I will personally ask him!

Reading between the lines, do you think they’re happy to lose every game and save a few quid because they know they won’t be relegated?

At this moment in time I have to say yes. From the outside it does not appear to be an organisation in crisis. Everything appears to be too relaxed. It’s weird but I believe at some point all will be revealed and the truth will prevail.

I've heard that theory, they don't care about this season and don't mind being pumped every game for a whole season as they know they will be graded higher than others and will be back in Super League.

It makes sense but I'm not buying it to be honest. They may be hoping that is how it pans out but but they can't be sure. IMG hadn't even worked out the grading criteria when Wakefield first started getting their ***** handed to them this season.

Also, aren't they starting to panic sign players now? Why would they do that if they knew they didn't have to?

I think the shock of just how bad it has been and how bad it will carry on being for a whole season is making fans think there must be more to it. I feel for the fans, it must be an awful situation. Hope the club can regroup next year in the Championship and start rebuilding

For those of us not totally familiar with all things WT, who is Mash?

Unless SL is increasing its numbers, the system for this year is one up one down, there is no way in this world they can deny the winners of the Championship promotion, and considering the next TV deal has not been agreed on- which could be less - I can't see that SL will vote for lesser funding in a 13 way split.

They've used 35 players already , in their first 7/8 games they'd not had one game with the same HB , hooker , FB combination , it is nigh on impossible to even coach a team out of a situation like that , I have sympathy , as that's where Leigh have been on two previous occasions , just unlucky this time round

As for any conspiracy theory, well maybe that is where they are now pinning their hopes , as regards not looking concerned ? , Running round screaming won't get them anywhere , they need to stay calm and go through the normal processes and hope they get a bounce of a ball in a game to get a win

All replies noted. From a personal point of view I had not seen much of them in action this season. People were commenting how bad they were and I must say I could not believe the performance at Newcastle when I watched it on Sky. It was quite frankly disgusting. That may be a strong word but I am very confident in my assessment.

Most threads relating to Trinity, across all the various SM platforms, no matter how narrow and specific the initial subject matter do seem to get derailed a so fill yer boots mate.

Ive mentioned on a few threads now but Wakey have literally followed the Fax blueprint in their relegation almost to the tee. Starts off ok but then panic sets in and start buying and selling players who will have little effect, then noises from the club suggest the financial state of the club will be great once you get this season out of the way. I do believe that Wakey have made numbers up for too long and are well deserved of relegation but I like them as a club, very similar to Fax, but I genuinley hope that they can sack off the Fax blueprint because we went down believing that we would be good enough to come back up, debt free and all things rosey, and that was 20 years ago.

This is the biggest year in decades for promotion and relegation because I think deep down most of us believe that for the first year at least there will be no changes from the teams that are in SL next season in the new IMG model.

got to say watching from behind the posts at St James I was utterly shocked by just how poor they were. There was no thought in attack, the pace seemed to be about 75%, if a couple of players just played at a faster tempo it would make a difference. It was single line running nothing special nothing seemingly designed to open the play up at all, no "interesting" lines to hold the defence or attack at a different angle. It just looked terrible. Honestly I've never seen anything quite like it. I really wonder what they are coaching as just watching other teams on TV for 2 hours a day would give you some ideas of what to try it was just very very odd. I really felt for all the Wakefield fans as I've only watched them once but I wouldn't pay to do it again!

And to be fair its not a bad team on paper and they seem to be trying hard as a group.. Pitts was on one leg for most of the match but worked his socks off. Other players came on and played well, David Fifita cant ever be accused of not giving his all etc (and looked as though he was trying to get the players up for it)... Its baffling

Oooh, the Bradford conspiracy theory being applied to Wakefield....

Was that the one where people were saying that Bradford would not be relegated from SL because they wouldn’t allow it? There was also a similar one around 2004 or 05 when Wigan were languishing at the bottom of the table.

Are you thinking of 2006 when Wigan broke the cap and signed Stuart Fielden for 450K, they should have had alll the points they won in the games he played in retracted, which would have had them relegated.

Amongst other occasions where they were going to be magically reinstated into SL because something, something....

Does anyone know who are looking to takeover the club?

According to the press release above there are two interested parties.  As neither have as yet come out and owned up I'll not be posting any hearsay but check out RLFans Wakefield Forum for more detailed speculation.

Very likely, thank you for the prompt.

Do you think the TV deal will be less once sky loose Premier league football ?

Will channel 4 bid for more games ?

Will there be a French TV deal with 2 French clubs in SL ?

Will BBC loose the highlights show to a higher bidder ?

Will premier (or who ever they are) look to bid for SL games ?
