Is anyone on here 'in the know' as to whether there will be a WCC next year?

I've seen a few rumours but nothing that seems particularly credible.

(Prompted by a question on the IMG thread).

Wonder if Penrith and it's fans will be more up for this one compared to last year?

Would hope so

To be fair it was played in torrential rain, if the weather had been better I expect the crowd would have been bigger. However yes agreed, if it happens hopefully they’ll turn out now they know English teams aren’t pushovers.

It would fantastic if Pies could get a result ....I suspect some rain and a soggy track would help again

I know it won't happen but surely Penrith should be playing over here this time.

In front of a sell out crowd at Wigan, I’d certainly try to get tickets.

I’m sure I’ve seen on X that Ivan Cleary is keen for Penrith to play in the WCC.

Penrith losing at home last year is the best thing that could have happened. To miss next year would just look like them ducking the challenge and would reflect really badly on them.

Any idea if he likes pies and smog?

I think Penrith will be keen for this not only  after last year but they have never won it (I remember watching the Bulls beat them!) - they must feel like they have something to prove. Should defo be over here this time!

Well it's certainly different. Over here (in Wigan) you can see what your breathing!

This should be played in Las Vegas as part of the NRL rounds over there.

That was mentioned and would be pretty good for the concept.

We've beaten them before over here. Maybe they are just running scared?

Radlinski has suggested this. Hopefully they will.

It was actually forecast to in the high 30s. In the morning and early afternoon it was incredibly humid. They pushed the game back two hours because of this. I think thats what put people off. As well as a bit of indifference to the comp.

Then luckily for St Helens the the torrential rain came out of nowhere, and they grabbed the win, as englishmen me and my freind were happy to cheer them on ha

Can't see the NRL wanting their Vegas showcase for the NRL being undermined / distracted by a different event... especially one with an international element that may be perceived by the US fans as more important.

Just call it the World Series of Rugby or Super Bowl Rugby, they’ll love it.

That would be even worse.

The Australians are going to Vegas to sell the NRL, not the sport of Rugby League.

They won't want anything to distract from that.
