I’m completely biased but there is not a stadium that compares to St James Park for facilities on doorstep being truly city centre.

Other large football grounds in the north Old Trafford, Anfield, City of Manchester, Elland Road are all on estates/miles from city centre/middle of nowhere.

When did we all of a sudden decide that Magic had to be in the North though? Wasn't the whole idea of Magic to start with to spread the game to new markets. If you want accessibility, surely London with the tube is a no brainer. I know personally that the Emirates is a 5 min walk from Finsbury Park which has a few pubs, chippys and restaurants and obviously it's only a 15 minute tube journey to central London.

How much do the top tier clubs make from the MW, are the gate receipts shared between the twelve of them!!!!!.

If you sell tickets, you keep the money.

Fev play Wakefield in the second league game on the 29th. They're away at Batley 1st out (17th)

Yes, you're right. Sorry...I should wear glasses more often, and drink less red wine!

I won't be posting much this season as i won't be going to many Toulouse games.

Full fixture lists for Championship and L1 have been released today.

Newcastle Thunder feature in both the 1895 cup and League 1 fixtures, although I have seen no other confirmation from the club or RFL that they are definitely competing next year - on the face of it it seem good news for them.

I hope the Barrow board are not thinking of spending cash on Christmas cards to the RFL after being informed that they open their season on January 28th (1895 Cup) and that their first scheduled home game is not until two moths later (York April 7). At least four away games followed by three home matches. That takes some bad planning to organise.

And you are surprised by this because…?  This is The RFL after all, nearly as go as including the Thunder into the 1895 cup but not actually having accepted them back into the League, you couldn’t make it up.

The 1895 Cup was deliberately organised that way - championship teams are always away when playing league 1 opposition. There's a couple of rounds of the Challenge Cup to be played before April 7, so potentially a couple of extra away games to add to the mix if that's how the draw turns out.

The graphic that a number of the clubs have used (so presumably centrally generated) is pretty much unreadable - a small, blurry image which uses tiny team badges rather than the name of the team. Anybody have a link to the actual fixtures written in a normal text format?

They're all available on the RFL match centre: https://www.rugby-league.com/match-centre

Thank you. I've literally had to enter "somewhere up north vs Widnes (A)" and "Widnes v Christ knows (H)" into my calendar - and I'm someone who follows the game pretty closely and recognise most of the badges even in distorted 5x5 pixel format.

How have they worked out the League 1 loop fixtures? Is it bottom half loops and top half by the looks of things?

Top half of nine ?  Probably not.

Edit - OK, I get what you're saying, but that wouldn't work because one teams top is not the same as another team's top.

Cornwall, Hunslet, Oldham, Rochdale, North Wales, Keighley, Midlands, Workington, Newcastle.

Considering you can't play yourself at Loop fixtures, it's 8 teams you have to choose from. IE, you play half the other teams twice.

Cornwall for example have their 4 loop fixtures as Home, North Wales and Midlands (who is surprised those two clubs got the double trips!), and Away to Oldham and Rochdale.

Yeah - but is the fifth team in the top half or the bottom?

Cornwall v Midlands. It's our local derby!

I'm obviously delighted at dual weekend trips to the sunny south west; my club's owners, probably not so much.

Depends if they are glass half full or glass half empty at the RFL I suppose!

I have visions of someone locked away in an office in RLHQ, with a team of paper, pencils and a rubber and doing the fixtures long hand, it is as though they do not know that computer programs have been written to do this kind of stuff.
