Where Rugby League leads, union follows.

I think we'll find it reported that union did it first, even though it didn't.

I’ll start for you mate…….2 for me, booked and paid for.

Another 2 here as well, me and my eldest heading out.

We were actually out in Vegas back in August and were sat in Allegiant watching the Raiders play the 49'ers in a pre-season game. He said to me he'd quite fancy coming back for the Rugby League, I said (as a former Ice Hockey player) if the Golden Knights are playing at home we'll do it. Turns out they're at home on the Sunday against New Jersey Devils so we're heading out for a weekend of sport!

I went in Feb/Mar this year for the first one.  Awesome build up at the fan zone, awesome stadium, awesome game(s), awesome place, awesome Sphere, awesome week.  Fair to say it was awesome. 😎

Anyone know how many tickets have been sold so far?

From the Australian forum:

SMH also reporting close to 30,000 sold. Which at this point, seems pretty good?

"It's definitely a solid result, especially when you throw in that ticket prices have increased & the NRL has so far spent a lot less on promotion.

"Assuming that the event sold similar to last year over the December - March window, we'd be looking at around 50K for game day.

"NRL has a few new strategies they are trying this time around, such as sponsoring the F1s, so will be interesting to see if they move the needle.

"For me the most encouraging sign is the fact we're selling into sections of the stadium that just weren't opened up last year. This time last year the NRL was taking bays off sale & selling every second row in many bays just to try and fill the TV arc."

Thank you @Yakstorm

Great stuff. A big event with a big crowd will look good on TV. This event could really grow into something and hopefully get some good media coverage both in the US and the UK

Good media coverage in the UK is vital, in my view. Not just good but extensive, extended and excellent.  A real breakthrough -a challenge indeed, would be to get timely  pre-match build-up coverage in the national union-only press such as the Times - on line and printed.

I think these are the kind of events that could break through into stream media

I think for it to grow into a big event it has to engage a local audience, otherwise it will just be like the NRL 9’s … lose its novelty factor after a few years and the large travelling support will reduce

Nottingham Outlaws Rugby League

Harry Jepson Winners 2008

East Midlands Challenge Cup Winners 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008

Including Australia vs England should help.

That video shows a clip of the clubs/fanzone on Fremont Street, which is part of the original Las Vegas. It's a crazy place and fantastic to see such a crowd, in such a location watching RL clubs. Hopefully the English clubs will get on board next time. I'm actually weighing up going .....and I only got back from there very recently.

Can someone remind me why we couldn't have the WCC the weekend of the 7th-9th February?

Because Penrith never wanted to play the game.

That's what it all boils down to. They've made that clear all the way through and any date will never be suitable.

NRL ramping up the promotion for the opening round in Las Vegas now, have seen advertisements on FTA (Wigan and Warrington are in there) during the cricket Test match between Oz and India and seen the same ad in the afternoon and evenings in general, also have heard promos on the radio as well. And still two and a half months to go.

I prefer Fremont Street to the Strip, it’s like Rugby League compared to the Strip’s Union.

Don't listen to people saying it's unsafe or dangerous, it's not. Well, provided you don't wander off too much. It's definitely too far to walk to the stadium though 😉

Never been to Vegas before, but the people I am going with have, been to many countries including the states so not too worried. Appreciate the advice though
