newcastle playing at 1pm saturday when magpies open their premier league season at home at 3pm.  Madness or what?

As tenants guessing we don't have much choice, the stadium is probably booked on Sunday.

I'll be there getting behind this group that have put bodies on the line to keep rugby league alive in the north east.

All away wins.....except for Cornwall. Can they upset the table and let North Wales back in with a chance of coming 6th?

Big weekend for Oldham. I expect them to lift the trophy on Sunday.

North Wales Crusaders need to go into playoff mode and beat Hunslet. I'll be a bag of nerves again, I know we CAN win if we play our best for 80 minutes. Cru to edge it by 2 points.

1000+ Oldham fans heading over the Pennines,  hopefully to celebrate winning the title at our biggest rivals🤞

It will be nice to see you, but hopefully you won't be celebrating this week.

Cornwall seem to be improving; they matched Hunslet for a long time last week, but they tend to do things the hard way with ill discipline.

Talking of Cornwall, their twitter feed during games is the least endearing part of their existence. Always a hard luck story, sarcastic to the point of crossing the professional line and rarely complimentary of the officials.

The new ground (assuming they make it there) will be a much needed shot in the arm, and a big improvement on Penryn, which has now served its purpose. They are far more competitive this last few games with a number of new faces, but there's still a lot of work to be done to be consistently competitive.

Just out of interest, what do you expect?

Given the travails of the lower leagues they are doing well to still exist, as are others.

I'm not sure but I don't think Perez has ever been a money man? A hard working enthusiastic front of house man but not someone able to bankroll a team. He has always been about getting out and about and finding others to put the money in.

With the best, thats a good bit of PR, though I would say the Bedford team, theres, like, you know, 13 blokes who can get together at the weekend to have a game together, which doesnt point to expansion of the game. Point, yeah go on!

Hunslet managed to see off Crusaders who seemed to have the game well in hand at 6-20 early in the second half.

From then on Hunslet, who were poor in the first half, clicked in to gear to score 22 unanswered points.

Crusaders well supported as ever, but they will be disappointed at their team's inability to complete their sets of 6 in the second half including a couple of clear try scoring opportunities.

We have the rare ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory! Probably the end of our playoff hopes - we've Rochdale away next week and finish off with Cornwall at home while Worky have the season long car crash that's Newcastle at home followed by Oldham away. Might just sneak it but it's very doubtful.
