Halifax skint

RFL and IMG have had the big rethink, it is literally being implemented this year.

Whitehaven and Halifax spending money they don't have has no correlation with that.

Like blaming the red after a loss, it's always someone elses fault.

Widdop is paid by a group of sponsors, not by the club

Sponsors might have been better putting it into the club rather than a player pocket

You've to cut your cloth to your budget, their should be no sympathy for clubs willing the boom or bust philosophy.

Might be a few players of our present squad regretting signing for Halifax🤔

I think most Championship clubs have overestimated the attendances so have less revenue coming in .Supporters know even winning the championship final wont get you promoted unless it is Wakey so decide to spend their money on other things. It will get worse for most clubs who will be excluded from SL for at least 3 seasons.Oldham won League 1 so easily because they had a squad of Championship players on wages other League 1 teams could only dream of paying. But under the present IMG rules they have no chance of promotion in three years.

Oldham have a far better chance of making it to Super League under IMG than the old system.

And crucially, it wouldn't ruin them.

Welcome to the ruthless world of professional sports business Deano lad.

Yes but your asking clubs below sl to get their finances  grounds etc in order so that they can gain entry into sl when in fact there are clubs in there in similar positions even with the sky money

sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward

Speaking to people at the club it looks like the players have agreed to play on Sunday despite the prospect of them getting paid been very slim. It sounds like the current BOD are praying for a miracle but its expected the club will be wound up very shortly and the debt is much larger than the club are letting on. We will go down as an example of what happens when your money men don't deliver on the promises that they have made.

I feel like on hearing stories from various people at the club or connected to it that the situation is too far gone and anyone putting money in as donations is putting money in a black hole one that the club won't come back from.

If true that is so sad

No Chance Toulouse Bradford York Widnes and Featherstone will all be in front of them. But if they went for broke like Leigh did under Beaumont and spent £1 million in wages they could go up the first season under the promotion system.

Course they will come back  from it Oxy what would rugby league and the town of Halifax be without them.Too much heritage for the team to pack it in.

Didn't ruin Leigh and to a lesser extent Hull KR who didn't invest like Leigh but had more backing than most other Championship clubs.A Championship team promoted and top of The Super Duper League those two teams are an example of why promotion works. And more teams would have stayed up if the cards had not been stacked against them in signing SL quality players. And had been given a one year free hit to recruit properly.

Anyone who calls it "Super Duper League" or "Super Greed" should be banned from watching it. 🤣

I am proud to say i have only paid to see one SL game.My daughter who supports Huddersfield  took me to see Giants play Cas a couple of seasons ago.I thought as i am a poor pensioner she would pay me in but i had to pay for myself.

Possibly but it won't be in the current guise.

Fax have been skint before Oxy on their knees in the early seventies when my mates played for them.As i have said before 3 of them have heritage numbers.Les Pearce scoured the amateur game for players and they did ok.You know more than me that the amateur game is not the strength it was 30 or 40 years ago so we must start at grass roots.I would love it if the Championship and League one broke away and started afresh. But if they do The Rugby League Challenge Cup goes with them. The SL clkubs can play for the Super League Challenge Cup .

Yeah we have been here before but this time feels different. Previously there was always someone with some money waiting to step in like a David Brook or Tony Gartland, but at this point nobody is touching this club with a barge pole with the money owed to HMRC. My only hope is that someone might step in and set a new team up when the inevitable happens and as much as I am not that interested in RL at this level at the moment, it would be a weird feeling not been able to go down and watch Fax when I have no amateur commitments.

So no mention of coming in to make clubs sustainable.

There is a mention of long-term growth though which people conveniently ignore.

So growth without sustainability? I believe that was the first incarnation of the Bulls' recipe for success.

You paint a bleak picture Oxy. Hope that Fax can find a way through this.

Just because you think everyone hates you doesn't mean they don't.

I never trusted the people who took over, I thought they were in it for the wrong reasons and yes they got their glory going to Wembley but they will be remembered as the people who ruined the club. Broken promises, lies, cover ups, and now begging for people to put money in without revealing the full facts.

I wish Halifax all the best. I have brilliant memories of their fantastic supporters club where they persuaded us to join them for the day and then come back next year for an overnight stay.

Brilliant people, great town, long may they continue. Their plight could have been ours if it wasn't for one bombed try in Paul Cullen's first match in charge at Wire.
