Halifax skint

Recommended Posts

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Asking for 1k pounds quid loans. Jesus that sounds depressing.

What tenor / What interest rate?

Go bust and start again.

Unless a big benefactor comes in it sounds very bleak. With the picture that has been painted you may as well burn your £1k because it's not going to touch the sides I fear.

Went to Fax game versus Wakey a couple of weeks back after a few years absence. Decent ground, reasonable support and a few good players in their side. I was amazed why their league position is so poor because they have all the basics to be up at the top of the championship. Now this !!! ,

If you're providing a loan in the hope of receiving anything, let alone interest, back then I have a bridge I can sell you.

It is a very sorry state of affairs, so soon after the Whitehaven crisis and no doubt there are many other clubs out there in dire straits.
isn’t this exactly the situation that IMG were brought in for, to ensure all the clubs are sustainable?

Again it will be the players, staff and supporters who will suffer. Surely the RFL carry out audits of all the clubs each season to make sure they are viable and can fulfill all their obligations or do I live in cloud cuckoo land?

Haven and now Fax in a fight for survival so sad to see in the second tier of professional Rugby League.  I suspect that there may be other clubs who are teetering on the edge financially. Without a rich benefactor there is no way for the clubs to prosper.  Without the prospect of promotion and the buzz that brings to a club, why would sponsors invest in clubs that are going to have rinse and repeat seasons every year?

In all the blurb around IMG's involvement with RL, I don't think I've ever seen a mention of coming in to make sure clubs are sustainable.

People have unrealistic expectations of what a governing body can do here too.

The prospect of promotion is still very much there for properly ran clubs, where sponsors and investors can use their money properly and constructively, rather than Gareth Widdop on 60k.

IMG has assembled a team of experts across its Media business and the Endeavor network to work with the newly combined entity on strategically repositioning the sport to maximise its commercial potential for long-term growth, build deeper relationships with fans and attract new audiences.

Reimagined to the same make up of clubs in Super League for 2025 as when they were announced. The loss of League 1 clubs.Financial problems for Championship clubs and a reduced broadcast deal.

How are non Super League attendances?

It's going well....so far.

Whilst some unfortunate circumstances may have come about as they do in many RL towns, you are right to highlight there simply must be some incredible financial mismanagement to balls up a club like Halifax.

No they just need p and r

They had that and owe(d) £54k on the stadium last year, oh and got relegated and nearly went bust a few times

All in all it went very well for them!

Well he didnt look worth that when I saw him against Wakey. As an aside I have seen quite a few ex SL players well past their sell by date still playing in the Championship. I dont know what the various clubs are paying these blokes but I suspect many are their highest earners. Many of those I have seen this season look like they are just going through the motions to top up their pensions. While ever Championship clubs are stupid enough to throw money at these 'has beens', they are always going to have financial issues.

Ukuma Ta'ai and Jimmy Keinhorst have been real leaders for York this year, Chris Clarkson and Danny Kirmond before that. On the other hand York loaded their 2021 squad with ex-SL talent and we missed the play-offs. Adam Cuthbertson was absolute pony!
