Gavin Clinch.

Nah, it'll be the Silver Service team from the Manchester Campanile Hotel, who have been feeding the players grapes, quinoa, cous cous, caviar, quail eggs, and fois gras.

They are not needed now they are bringing their own packed lunches.

So who are the players most likely to depart to save the required amount of money?

Marsters and McDonald will likely be top of the list. Sneyd could well too

Feel a bit sorry for Salford. Whilst they’ve been spending beyond their means for some time and need to cut their cloth accordingly, they have had a poor deal from the stadium which was meant to be built for them. Instead it’s been taken over by some squatters who should be paying the Red Devils for bringing entertainment to the stadium

They ain’t been paying rent and taking council loans for years - that’s some deal!

They need 3000 more full paying fans and a benefactor

So has the stadium deal been concluded?

Yes the deals done and new revenue streams are expected. So there won’t be a flash sale maybe 1/2 bot not as many as expected

Salford Council now own the stadium

Make of that what you will......

So what's changed? Is someone able to summarise for those of us not in the know

So by the sounds of it, something drastic still needs to happen for the club to be sustainable. Am I wrong?

I'm just disgusted as a London fan to see this news come to light after the IMG scores were announced. It gives the impression that Salford have mislead the sport and makes the grading process look like a joke.

This is gonna be an ongoing saga for the whole of next season.

You're going to have to join the dots for me on this one. Why, given London's smoke and mirrors is even more pronounced, are you disgusted with Salford?

At what point to the cuckoos become valid?

Weren't they the only team actually paying rent to use the stadium?

Those cuckoo's are the ones that have actually paid their rent though and have kept the whole thing remotely viable.

I'm all for knocking Sale as much as anyone but there's an awful sense of entitlement from Salford fans in all this and it's built on pretty much nothing. They have had way more support from a local council than what would normally be expected.

He isn't London, he supports them. How far are your team from Superleague, under the IMG grading system?

Not sure about this . If £ 700k has to be saved , then even with the expected £ 150k pa mentioned on here (which isn't going to be coming before the start of the season) you will still have to make massive cuts . RFL have said what needs to be done , the only way you can do this immediately , is to sell players as far as I can see . Now if the RFL say that it's ok to ignore their recommendations now that a deal for the stadium is done , fair enough , but I wouldn't expect that to be the case .

Be fair. You can’t expect IMG to check whether they are on TikTok and also ask if they can afford to field a team.

It’s not ignoring the recommendations. They were based with no stadium deal. So the number will be different it’s more breathing room. There also a lot of talk of new owner coming in

No, it makes no sense (don't forget the rent they already can't pay and the loans they haven't started to repay yet).

But that's why they will still need to slash and burn, get their operating costs under control, then build properly.

They will never be given another funding advance, and I don't see how the council can give another un-secured loan.

At least it seems like there is a glimmer of hope now.

They need to offload their most expensive costs.....the salaries of their top earners

That may mean a future outside of the top flight

That is a normal occurrence in the promotion/relegation/gradings landscape on all sports

Spending beyond your means leads to worse consequences than just playing in the second tier

I'll keep saying it.....Salford's best option was to move to Moor Lane and reconsolidate as a healthy championship side that could crowd up nicely in it's appropriately sized 5000 capacity stadium
