Everyone who's bought a ticket (it's sold out with season tickets) knew where it was going to be, and also that only the back half had a roof. It's better than not being there! To be honest the sight lines aren't any worse than if you're standing at the other end of the East Stand. Both the East and West stands have multiple pillars because the idiots who built the stadium in 1989 hadn't heard of cantilevered roofs, despite the technology being established for 3 or 4 decades at that point. 1

It's not impossible to get around - Gillingham FC seem to have had a "temporary" stand up at one end since the late 90s and most of the stands at Silverstone are "temporary". But I suspect there becomes a point where the cost of maintaining a lot of scaffolding becomes more hassle than it's worth. HKR know more than most about that tbf after the previous golf stand incarnations Sightlines on the new one look dreadful, but I hope it’s successful enough to persuade them to extend the East Stand terracing I I think ultimately a situation where the East is extended, North Stand becomes a full home end and they have to look at solutions for away fans at the south end is the end game without spending a fortune on the main stand. All of which are unthinkable from the wind tunnel, postage stamp pitch Craven Park of 20 years ago! 1
Worzel Posted January 30 Posted January 30 1 hour ago, langpark said: Silly question, but what's stopping Hull KR just leaving this 'temporary' stand there forever? It's a 2 year lease to test the demand, ultimately if we take the plunge and extend the East Stand for £1.5m that would cost less per year in asset finance than this temporary stand, so it'll make sense not to. 1

Honestly, what happened with the move from the old Craven Park to the new one was borderline criminal, I think there's a lot of questions to be asked about what went on back then. But perhaps better to let sleeping dogs lie!! 1

sweaty craiq Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Bath have all one side like that with no roof, it’s a blueprint you could see at Saracens Worcester also

Snowys Backside Posted January 30 Posted January 30 I can see the onset of a new Humberside flu/covid virus happening from the poor sods having to endure that cold wind and fishy smell for 80 mins. Not for me. Bad enough playing at the dump in Winter, so get your covid jabs guys whilst freezing your rocks off and paying 30 quid to see your side get pummelled in one half of Rugby

Any virus particles are going to be in Denmark before they have a chance to infect someone. Much more chance of catching something in a nice warm sponsors box
Worzel Posted January 30 Posted January 30 Roof starting to go on now. Amusing to watch other clubs' fans lose their marbles over this on Twitter, it's not finished kids it'll look better when the sides are cladded. Loads of rugby clubs use temporary stands like this, seems pretty sensible to me... better than not being able to get a ticket!

Half of that stand are not even going to get a view due to the densely populated terrace and pillars. Fair play for expanding but a secure covered standing area behind the Sticks would have been far better than freezing your nads off getting neck ache. Could have increased the capacity by another 4k and put Craven Cul de Sac where the Lego is.

The same pillars impact your sight lines if you're on the existing terrace, and we have pillars in the West stand seating too, so the experience is no different for Rovers fans. The temp seats have been built starting from 6 foot off the ground, so head height is above the standing height of people on the terrace, and people can walk in front of the stand throughout the game without blocking the front row's view. It's amost like professional people have thought about this stuff...!! From a marketing perspective people want to buy into the "East Stand" experience (believe it or not), and a stand at the South end just wouldn't have generated the same level of interest. The North stand at the other end is always slower to sell, so we know that already in the data. Plus of course the whole Craven Streat thing being pitch-side rather than behind a stand is a central part of the matchday set-up. It's certainly not a perfect solution, ideally we'd just be extending the proper stand, but it's the best option within the constraints we have I think. 2

As I say, you cant knock it but there needs to be a time when the club think 'C'mon, lets do something with this ground and spend some real money on it'. HKR have spent Money for success and fair play, but a growing club needs decent accommodation. I am sure they do have a Long term plan to substantially grow the ground with longevity in mind. 2

Yes I think we all agree. It all rests on the development plans for the 13 acres around the ground. Lakin says planning will be submitted in the spring, they have two retailers lined up as anchor tenants already so it seems real. But in a nutshell they've gone with this temporary solution because it's not sensible to make firm plans until that project is properly scoped and underway, and doing this now is better than doing nothing for 12-24 months in the interim. 1
LeytherRob Posted February 1 Posted February 1 decent Leigh following for the Warrington friendly, over 2k pre sales plus walkups 5
Just Browny Posted February 2 Posted February 2 6,984 at Warrington vs Leigh, 984 Warrington fans and the rest were from Leigh. 2 6 I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.
