Liverpool Rover Posted January 25 Posted January 25 This weeks House Of Games was one of the worst. Someone guessing that Queen Victoria was crowned in 1918 was one of the highlights 2

Someone guessing that Queen Victoria was crowned in 1918 was one of the highlights In a fairly recent episode of the podcast The Rest is Entertainment, Richard Osman talked a bit about studies into the psychology of some of the more spectacular wrong answers you hear on game shows. A lot of the time, when it is a subject someone has no confidence of knowing about, they hear the opening words and then panic takes over and the rest of the question doesn't really register. My favourite rounds on House of Games are, 'I'm terrible at dating', and 'where is Kazakhstan'. History and Geography are my passions and I normally do very well in those rounds. What are other people's favourite rounds?
Red Willow Posted January 25 Posted January 25 Those are my fav rounds too. Also love the kids questions 1

RayCee Posted February 2 Posted February 2 (edited) I really enjoyed the Traitors UK Season 3 although it can be frustrating to watch too. Perhaps getting convincingly lied to and tricked eventually creates paranoia. Now a spoiler alert for any who have yet to watch it. I was surprised that having voted off two traitors at the final two round tables and the Seer (Francesca) then finding another one at a private reveal that she still thought there were more traitors about. I get the others may not have been sure as it wasn't revealed that Charlotte was a traitor when removed. If I was Francesca, I would have been saying "I think that only the Faithful are left". Why she didn't... Edited February 2 by RayCee My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

The Hallucinating Goose Posted February 2 Posted February 2 The Chase celebrities is so fixed... the celebs just won £120,000 cos the chaser didn't know the capital of Dominican Republic. How does a chaser not know a capital city?!

How does a chaser not know a capital city?! I knew it but I've met plenty of people who simply do not know things like that. It depends on your interests. That said, there are quite a few countries I don't know the capital of. My blog: https://rugbyl.blogspot.co.nz/ It takes wisdom to know when a discussion has run its course. Why she didn't... I thought the two twists at the end (the seer and the eliminated player not revealing what they were at the endgame) always meant that it was destined that two would be left. It made sense for the rest to get rid of Francesca and Charlotte to cover all bases. The fact that it only takes 1 person to want to vote again, means that if you vote to end the game, you look immediately suspicious. It's a lose lose situation. I like the twists though but they need binning off for the next year if they don't work.

That's why you'd have to tell others why you want to end the game before the fire vote otherwise, as you say, you would appear to be a traitor. It would be a huge risk. Be grateful you're not living in countries with less regulation. If you watch shows from the USA, you can often tell where their (much more frequent) ad breaks are skipped over in the UK broadcast. I watched a “half hour” long episode of a US sitcom recently on Netflix. It lasted 19 minutes. I’m not prejudiced, I hate everybody equally
Jeff Stein Posted February 7 Posted February 7 Normally I avoid anything with celebrity in the title, but Celebrity Bear Hunt on Netflix is great fun. The celebrities are good value, generally come across well and often funny. The challenges appear tough, but I think not as tough as keeping a straight face when dealing with Bear Grylls. I have never seen any of his other shows, but he does appear to be pompous, humourless and given to making pronouncements, which, if one gives them even one second of thought, turn out to be utterly empty. It is strange for such an entertaining show to have such a vapid central character
