Absolutely agree re. all the comments about Bateman, if Hull FC had the opportunity to sign any current player in SL, he'd be my first, second and third choice.

He was awesome today and should have won the MOM by an absolute mile.

As soon as possible, I will be watching both matches again, all the way through.

Warrington and Wigan already look a cut above the rest of the league.Considering both had 3 or 4 key players missing the others are going to have to step up to compete.

Well I'll be watching my team give Warrington a game next Sunday. Not sure well lie down.

He was my MoM just from his first half performance. Cronulla must have thought why have Wigan got a Jack Russell playing in the forwards.

Two fantastic results - a real shot in the arm for the Super League and rugby league in general in our structure.

No wonder Toronto were celebrating the English win - it adds even more value to their club being involved in trying to get to a league that holds the only award going for best in the world.

Hope fans respond next weekend and beyond

Just a thought, but why were Messrs Wood and Barwick the trophy-and-medal-giving party?  Nothing personal against them, but surely somebody of note from outside the mainstream of the game should have been invited to do this!  What a missed opportunity, even, perhaps, for HRH Prince Harry.  Wood could have whispered in his shell-like near the end, "I am being told, your highness, that John Bateman has carried x times for y yards and made z tackles.  How would that compare, sir, with a top rugby union player, out of interest?"

Great win for Wigan in the face of some distasteful tactics from a bunch of grubs that didn't seem to want to even play rugby until late on.

Was I watching the same game?

Great stuff Wigan and Warrington, absolutely brilliant!!!!

I went to the Rhinos v Cowboys game last year....which was such a disappointment so delighted results have been reversed this year....no need to underachieve against the Aussies in future.

Warrington deserved , Wigan not so helped by the worst refereeing I've ever seen.

I guess the key question now is how do we capitalise on this weekend's successes ?

Make sure Hicks is the ref every game, couldn't be more biased if he tried.

You must admit Cronulla had 2 good tries chalked off for nothing?

And Cronulla got away with a lot of elbows to the face, head tackles, sly digs etc. etc.

When a coach complains that the opposition are going to play dirty, what he is really saying is we are going to play dirty.

It did not work, tough zh1! Aussie whingers (and Yorkshire apologists), the ref reffed by the rules, wow, learn to live with it.

one, and Wigan deserved that win

I concur. Capewell's try should have been given. The Lewis one looked a harsh decision, but was correct according to the rulebook.

Can't wait for the next time the ref reffs by the rules and Wigan lose god forbid the reaction.

Sadly I think this is correct.

I wanted Wigan to win but when that Sharks try was disallowed for the ball possibly touching the whitewash I must admit to thinking "Cronulla will now have just cause to complain about the officials".

It was a perfectly good try, the point of the ball had to hit the ground before any other part touched the line, of that there can be no doubt.

2 - 0 is a great result for us over here but I'd rather it had been achieved without the slightest hint of controversy.

Still, well done to both Wire and the Pies, and while I wonder about the English refereeing, my mind goes back to Ashley Klein allowing Willie Mason carte blanche in assaulting Fielden, Long and plenty more a few years back.

I wonder what Tony Archer would have given?
