i just spent a week in Wales with a close friend who happens to be a big player in designing speakers and sound systems. He's done the sound for many an artist including the Rolling Stones. He said that Lee Perry was a remarkable talent, whatever he chose to do on the night. 

One time, Perry freely rapped over a backing track for about 90 minutes and painted a mural on a huge canvas while doing so. He said it was quite bizarre yet brilliant entertainment. I suppose that kind of sums him up.

Remember a classmate getting a Sinclair scientific calculator when they came out in '74. Despite having to use reverse Polish notation and occasionally being a bit slow to perform calculations, everyone else in the class were more than a touch jealous. It was a truly remarkable piece of cheap (compared to contemporary kit) 'computer hardware' for its time. My 1st Sinclair kit was a ZX81 that got nicked when the house I lived in got burgled less than a week after I bought it!

No , it was only a couple of days ago i was reading about his illness . Thats really sad , he was brilliant and a big part of the shows success was the strength in depth of the cast .
