My understanding is that it’s IMG criteria.

No, IMG has nothing to do with criteria for entry. The criteria is the minimum standards that all clubs must adhere to. I don't have the relevant document(s) to hand but it covers things like stadium capacity, number of seats, operational rules etc. Clubs entering league 1 will have to demonstrate they can meet these as well as have finance in place to pay costs and meet their obligations to fulfil matches. The rules are quite stringent.

Anyone provide a link please. it would be good to see in black and white…and also details of the venue for the championship/league 1 play off final.

Why's this information so difficult to find? (rhetorical question of course)

Maybe the Applicants have been given a comprehensive list for them to be marked against.?

But otherwise there has been no transparency for the wider RL audience.

Membership is dealt with by the RFL Articles of Association. I'm sure that's where Hemel's ref to 70k  Bond

comes from for defaults. Nicknames may also need to be changed given the use of them by existing members. It's certainly not all in one place.

Otherwise the standards facilities in A2 of the Operational Rules gives some idea of what is needed , the finance in A3 and especially the comp and cup rules  become relevant. The potentially expensive backroom regulatory stuff  that semi pro status brings should not be under estimated.

IMG remains a party to the process in terms of ranking ALL pro clubs not just SL. They will have to give the successful applicant a mark so  surely they will help / give advice in the selection .

The RFL seem desperate to fill the spot. I hope they will make a hard business decision rather than  take a punt and risk one that might produce yet another disaster in a division crying out for stability and a decent  level competition.

1. Del Capo has given enough detail for you to Google it 😉

2. Will this not depend on who is actually in the final?

Is it a neutral venue or home / away legged affair?

Does anybody know when the announcement will be made as to which team has won the application to be entered to League 1?  Thanks in advance and apologies if this has already been posted, can't remember seeing it.

Even Google doesnt know. Why would it depend on who is in the final?

We do know its a one off game.

All the play off formats are regulated by Operational Rule A1 : 11. . It's all there.

I believe the RFL Board have the power to alter matters if there becomes an urgent need. I suspect League 1 play off spot  ( with promotion the prize ) would need to take place at a venue that meets Championship standards or has the Board approval - otherwise it's at the home of the highest placed survivor, but could be wrong on that......

Misunderstood my question….i dont mean the league one play off final….I mean the following game….12th in championship v League 1 play off winner.

Still havent seen confirmation of which participant will host the game.

Nor have I but logic would dictate ( if only for consistency ) it take place at the home venue of the Championship side as finishing higher up in the system.

But if it were down to me I would instead tag it on to the Championship  Grand Final  itself , ( the way the NCL  finalize their Premier Division for the following season )  and which is scheduled for 29 / 30 October. Might be a bit of a wait for the League 1 side , but certainly a better day out for most !

The Vipers Ladies kick off their season with a home friendly against the RAF tomorrow evening. Training numbers have been great so far and it will be their first run out since an away win against Hull KR’s second team back in August.

The men’s season starts on Saturday with a home cup tie against Bedford Tigers, there should be a good crowd at Wymomdham and as always the bar will be open and all are welcome.

So what happens to them clubs in League 1 then?

The same thing that happened to Nottingham City and the rest when they were cut adrift?

Any new club needs to have quite a few community clubs around them that can produce players and keep the game being played at community level in the area. If clubs such as Anglian Vipers, Bedford etc become professional then they have to sign players from the North to make them competitive and the area just loses a community club.

I doubt the Heartlands teams in L1 would be cut off.

Bedford have forfeited today’s cup game so the Vipers are now playing Deeping Ducks in a friendly, kick off 1pm.

Not a good look if they have aspirations to join League 1.

It’s very difficult outside the heartlands mate, well it is in them also but even more so outside. Bedford are a cracking club and this shouldn’t reflect poorly on them, it just happens.
