Old Frightful
https://www.examinerlive.co.uk/sport/rugby-league/wakefield-trinity-new-head-coach-27754871 With Halloween coming up I decided to go to my local fancy dress shop to see if I could get a Dracula costume. After a few minutes the assistant handed me a Hull KR shirt asking "Is this suitable?", I replied "I think you may have misheard me, I said I wanted to look like a count." Damien
I suppose Wakefield will be hoping he does a similar kind of job on limited resources that he did at Castleford. Probably as good an appointment as any for the Championship but a fair few question marks after his Warrington tenure.

Ok thanks, seems a bit disrespectful to the current coach though if he's still in the job .

Applegarth knew his fate weeks ago. Expected to return to head of youth set-up, with assistant coach role. As before.

Couldn’t agree more, it is a disgrace if that is the case and if Applegarth has any self respect he will walk out of the door, unless of course he is a party to it and wants to stay as assistant, nah, couldn’t do that. Memories of John Pearman signing on all those star players back in 2000, before he actually took over.  This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.   Wakefield Trinity RLFC 2012 - 2014 "The wasted years" 2013, 2014 & 2015 Official Magic Weekend "Whipping Boys" 2017 - The year the dream disappeared under Grix's left foot. 2018 - The FinniChezz Bromance 2019 - The Return of the Prodigal Son
Chrispmartha
I’ve read/heard numerous rumours that Wakefield won’t go down but Cas will… Now I think it’s a load of codswallop, but its come from a few different sources. What’s all that about?

If course he could always recognise his strengths, appreciate the opportunity he’s had, have been treated respectfully and honest by his employer, and be happy to return to his previous career path. There’s always that option… 3 Apparently this site says I "won the day" here on 23rd Jan, 19th Jan, 9th Jan also 13th December, whatever any of that means. Anyway, 4 times in a few weeks? The forum must be going to the dogs - you people need to seriously up your game. Where's Dutoni when you need him?

What’s all that about? Wakefield will go down, the only reason they would not go down would be if the Championship Grand Final winners chose not to take up their place in SL and under the new IMG rules that would be one of the stupidest decisions ever turning down a fee 1m+. I think Powell is a cracking signing at Championship level but I imagine he didn't come cheap and you have to question the logic of splashing a lot of money on a coach where firstly results don't really matter and secondly presuming that Fev go up, even if Wakey keep only part of their squad it should be good enough to be in the top 2 or 3 with little effort. Wolford6
I'd have predicted that Daryl Powell would be going back to Leeds and Brian McDermott would go to Wakefield. Under Scrutiny by the Right-On Thought Police

He wasn't the right appointment for us in hindsight. He didn't get any rapport with the fans. But whoever we would have got last season wouldn't have been able to topple Leigh. To say he is an awful coach after all the trophies he has won is pushing it a bit.
