If someone can please tell me how there is conclusive proof to overturn the ref’s call on that disallowed Leigh try - in particular in comparison to the one that was given in the first half - then I’m all ears.

EDIT - Appreciate it wasn’t the grounding that was the issue, but where is Ipape supposed to go after playing the ball?!

He is supposed to stand still if moving forward would cause an obstruction, its not complicated. Don't obstruct the opposition, his doing so caused the Leigh try to be disallowed, thought he was being smart but was being really dumb.

I don't know what Ipape could really do, playing it right on the line.

I suppose by the letter of the law that he does impede a defender but it's a rather unfortunate series of decisions for poor Leigh.

He literally took two steps forward and knocked George King on his booty.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Not moving forward into the defender would help, but even if he'd stayed still it's still obstruction. The onus is on Mellor not to go through the man playing the ball to score the try as it means the defence can't possibly tackle him. He has to go around Ipape.

I’d like to see Leigh score again to set up an exciting finish

Or, and hear me out, we could see another three Leigh tries disallowed and enjoy the next week.

Yes. The laws state that the referee should not disallow a try because they were not in a position to see the grounding of the ball.

If every camera angle is unable to prove conclusively whether the ball was grounded or held up then the try is given.

Ah, okay.

In which case, I think my opinion was wrong earlier.

Its clear obstruction, you can’t take the marker out and mellor also touched ipape whilst trying to ground the ball.

Last year they awarded a ver similarity Harry Newman try totally incorrectly they got this one correct.

I don't really understand this, to be honest.

It's the law.  That's all.

Although, I will grant that as a sport we don't necessarily take the laws seriously when it comes to refereeing the game.

Could easily argue there is a case for a penalty try. Not even checked though which is pretty poor.

Penalty try would never have been given, obstruction though and a penalty?

Yeah, I know. I'm not really saying it's the wrong call, just rueing the series of events that have been pretty unfortunate for the Leythers.
