NRL in London makes sense and would be great

I am finding it very hard to get excited about NRL in Las Vegas ......can someone explain to me why it's a good thing?

Its not going to go off except as a one time thing in Vegas...same as last time.  Non existent press coverage in the sports mainstream media over here...zip, nadda.  Baseball has started up, hockey is currently king in Vegas with the Golden Knights, basketball going strong, new football league starting...nothing about RL.....I think the model that NRL is using is not adequate.

O how I hate to be the naysayer but I don't see it catching on like some posters on here believe...I think its another no go.

This is about future gambling revenue, not current media coverage or a few games in Vegas. I suspect the NRL will be hosting major US gambling companies in Vegas this weekend and saying - "look at this, we dumped an unknown sport here, got 45-50k people turn up with no national media coverage, we have nationwide Fox TV coverage lined up for our competition, these are the gambling options, are you interested in investing?" Their decision will decide how successful this all becomes.

You have hit the nail on the head.

One thing i would say though if RL commercial think having a match here would work forget it,the prices for the majority of RL fans are to expensive and our fan base is too narrow.

Flight for us 4 wife and 2 boys 3200

Hotel 3 nights 900 (No food)

Breakfast just now very modest 100

Lunch yesterday no wine just beers 300

Tickets 800 (OK our choice)

Food over 3 days beers etc 1200

Taxis 60

That's just basics before any shopping which is our choice

Total you are looking at around over 6K ridiculous Vegas is as expensive as Norway even more i would say.

On a happier note 3 pairs of Oakleys 50% off:)))))

Yank food is all the same, you’re going to Vegas it’s best to make your peace with the prices before hand. There are some great value places you can eat, even some of the restaurants inn the hotels aren’t that bad, it’s more the alcohol that’ll get you.

When I was last in Vegas (admittedly a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away), the casinos had these all-you-can-eat deals of endless and excellent food for less than $10 … do those not exist any more??

I’ve been 4/5 times over the last decade, I’ve never seen one of those

I remember staying in Circus Circus some years ago and it was all you could eat for twenty dollars. There was also entertainment which was free. Prices may have increased since our stay, but I bet it's still good value.

Lots of the less salubrious hotels did really cheap buffets, but the Boardwalk was in a league of it's own as far as low prices were concerned. Another was Sahara, and also Bourbon Street too. These three made Circus Circus look positively upmarket (which it certainly wasn't). The Bellagio was the bees knees back in the day, but newer hotels have probably got the most lavish buffets these days, Wynn and Encore being examples of such when I last visited about 13 years ago.

Interesting. I’ve never been to LV but I have stayed in Reno which is a smaller casino city in Nevada. I remember the food being very affordable. The people I traveled with still made sandwiches from supermarket shops and we slept in a camper van in a parking lot full of prostitutes. 🤣

Walking along the main street this place was offering lunch for a 1$, in we went. the lunch consisted of plenty shrimps and salad. Incredible. Also pestered by insurance guys trying to flog you a policy. Beware of them.

I'm sure the complaints won't be the same as we hear at the English grounds though with the NRL organising it!

The difference is you guys have had 130 years to sort something out.

Matty Johns noting how many English fans are in town just now on the live coverage. Imagine how many would go if the WCC was there next year and maybe a Superleague game!

Interested to see the crowd come kick off. The 45/50k estimates look a bit of a fantasy going off the ticket maps pre game but we’ll see.

Not sure how much I'd trust shrimp being served for $1 ...

Puts our stadiums to shame makes Wembley Spurs Arsenal look like a toilet:)

Not a patch on Wheldon Road though :))))
