I can't see it being a run away victory much above the bookies handicap of 16. I think having a hooker this week will make a big difference for us but even so, missing Field and French takes away so much threat, we're not going to be running riot. We also seem to have some sort of mental block when visiting the City of Hull.

I don't feel like that any more. Sure, it will likely be a tough day at the office, but I'm confident the boys will give it their best shot and give Wigan a few things to think about.

Wigan by 10.

On the back of two consecutive derby games, another coming up after Hull, then 3 games in 10 days, I think it's fair to say it's going to be a very good time for any team to play Wigan. Add to that the players we have missing in the playmaking positions and I can see this being a very frustrating game.

Last year we beat Hull by just 1 point at home and lost 14-10 in Hull so I'm definitely not expecting an easy game. I think we could do with big performances from players like Mago, Byrne, Dupree and Walters so we don't end up overworking our best forwards before the end of the year. Maybe one or two of our big players might get a rest in this game.

Call me a pessimist, but I think the top of the table could look different by the middle of August.

Enjoying watching the black and whites again even though the results aren't quite there. Effort is 100 X better than a few months ago and we have introduced some structure. Grix must take some credit for that.

Wigan too strong.

I'm the same. I've actually started looking forward to going to the game again but I still don't think we've got many wins in us.

I noticed four votes for Hull but I thought you could only vote once. How did you manage to vote that often OF?

It takes reasonableness to end that discussion.

Hmmph!

Not funny, actually, I don't think I've ever voted in a poll on a match thread.

So here goes for the fifth vote...

Edit : There's six now!

That will give the young man a lot of confidence.

That was absolutely top quality from Eckersley.

Marshall goes over but Keighran's conversion goes wide - 6:4.

Hull FC's aggressive pressure is paying off. An error from Marshall gifts possession near Wigan's line, then Trueman makes a try for Sutcliff.

Smart run from Sutcliffe. Good move straight from the scrum. Farrimond seemed to commit when he didn't need to which stopped him being able to do anything about the cut back inside.
