Just watching the end again, and what an absolute hash Wire make of their last set in the 80. Two of our most experienced players royally balls it up.

Drinkwater (who has been great this year) messes up the kick. We finished our last set just in Saints half and Drinkwater kicks on the halfway line - it's a useless kick that drifts 12m forward and Saints get it back. I dont know what he was thinking and not sure why it wasn't in the corner.

To make it worse, from the tackle then on the Saints 40, Sam Powell makes a weird ball steal when all we need to do is tackle, tackle, tackle.

From finishing our set in Saints half, Saints end up with the ball in our 40 zone.

Thankfully. In the GP, Saints' game management was even worse than that!

The most telling gaff in all the game was the ball delivered across the face of the attack by Clark from acting half which resulted in the 2nd Ashton try, that had more bearing on the final result than anything else which went before or after.

Humourous, passionate, and fair analysis from Wilkin here.

He seems to be carried along on the wave of energy to the occasion.

''That's connected me back with the sport that I love tonight.''

What a great quote from him!

Pity he didn’t show the same passionate enthusiasm last night after a superb performance by the Leopards and a world class display by Ipape.

Seriously though - 78:35 seconds the try was scored, surely we should have some time to go before GP?

Yep, I thought a minute was allowed for a kick. I'd love to see a rule change whereby the clock is stopped between scoring a try and the following kick off. Or if that's too radical, could stop the clock and add on e.g. 30 seconds to bring a degree of uniformity and predictability. At the moment too much can depend on what the ref remembers to do on the day (always assuming the time keeper is actually paying attention!) which can be very frustrating for the speccies.

Wasn't there actually a rule recently where the clock was stopped for scrums/drop outs in the last 5 minutes of the game and was that applied to after the scoring of tries too? And was that quietly dropped for some reason, because I thought it helped provide more exciting finishes?

Was working last night so just watched the game on i-player. Absolutely phenomenal from both teams. Can't remember the last time I enjoyed a game, or was gripped by a game so much, when I didn't really mind who won. (Well I actually wanted Warrington to win, but before they did I'd already realised I wouldn't have begrudged a Saints win for the performance they put in).

Absolutely buzzing about the rest of the season now!!!

Yeah, I think both were gripping play-off games in their own ways.

I'm past the point of expecting you to give any praise to Warrington, but the context for that was that it was one of the few times where we had Saints under a bit of pressure with the ball in their own half. Rather than Makinson, Percival et al blasting out of their own half, we were pushing forward and not allowing a quick play the ball.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Cracking game.

Warrington do seem to a mentally tougher team under Sam Burgess

For me he just seems to have got them all to buy in to a common purpose.

Our performance last night was everything that this season has not been. In part, injuries haven't helped us but that isn't an excuse for us finishing 6th.

Welsby really stepped up last night for us, as did Williams for Warrington. Very frustrating the number of points that came from our own avoidable errors (but Warrington could say similar for giving us a chance at the end).

Delighted that Percival nailed that kick after the 2017 semi final where his miskicking harmed us. Staggered that anyone blames him for the kick out on the full in golden point, that was Lomax's responsibility and error. Our composure just vanished and you can't give chance away like that in golden point.

Over the course of the season, we got we deserved so can't really have any complaints. Over the course of that match, it really could have gone either way. We saw glimpses to show that we can attack last night and hopefully that continues into next year.

There was plenty of praise for the Salford v Leigh game. Plenty for Leigh even more for the superb Ipape even a bit for Beaumont. I’m not sure what else you want seems a bit needy.

Come on, we are all just minor characters in the Leigh story.

I know I'm still buzzing and on a high, but there is so much amazing imagery from that match, particularly the climax.

We had the last minute try and touchline conversion with all the celebrations that came with that.

The Morgan Knowles charged own of the first dg attempt was heroic for a big forward in the 82nd minute. On another day that is a match winning play.

The images of the players celebrating when the kick goes over. The South Stand exploding. The Saints players lay down heartbroken. The fans singing and dancing.

The interviews just seconds after the match, the Saints players and manager acting with class congratulating Wire players.

Burgess embracing the kids on the pitch.

There was such an explosion of colour and noise - i don't think anyone could watch that and not get caught up in it.

Sport at its very best, and excellent coverage from Sky, who we all like to bag at times.

Did anybody else read that in Ron Manager's voice?

Well done Wire just too clinical with the few chances they had. From a Saints point of view they will be kicking themselves over the errors not only for the try’s but in golden point as well. Much better performance than I expected I have to make a special mention for Lees who gets a lot of stick on here but was absolutely immense. Saints need to bring him some support in because this year he’s carried Walmsley and Passi.

I wouldn't have had him in the Dream Team for this year, but I thought he was really good in all aspects yesterday.

Glad to see him get such a shout-out - which I whole-heartedly second.

What a strange answer to the point you raised Browny and my interpretation im my reply of said player you criticised me about.

On that picture you can't even see Makinsons leg let alone his ankle. The one with his foot on the line is a Warrington player.

Just above the left knee of the Wire player you can see the boot down outside the field of play.

Was that when you 'asked' a question and said any viewpoint other than yours would be 'delusional'?

Yes answer it all, tell me what you disagree with, I made much more comment than just that.

I'm just watching the end of the 80 minutes,  just noticed bennison is also wearing green boots, that's got to be deliberate choice. Certainly helped yesterday

I thought at the time that mess could come back to bite Wire, it was shambolic. It's been forgotten about due to saints even worse effort in GP as you say.

It wasn't missed at the ground. The air was blue when Drinkwater made that 'kick'

Do you want him to lie and pretend he was more excited than he was for the Salford-Leigh match?
