Congrats to Hull KR, only thing in it was that they kicked one goal and we missed ours. Can't fault the effort, we were by far the better side in the second half after getting outgunned in the first.

That was the talk on quite a few podcasts I listened to, if it was tight and came down to goal kicks Warrington win, one Commentator even said Wire should have a seat on the coach just for Thewlis's boots !

Hell of a game, pity a controversial try is the deciding factor, just get rid of either the refs on field call or the VR and just have one make the decision, and if it is the VR instruct the TV companies not to show replays of the incident.

Not exactly what he said, but his expressions and style of speech indicated he got away with it.

He was having a joke with his friends.

He also answered the question seriously afterwards where he didn't indicate "he got away with it"

A 75% season conversion rate is not anything to shout about.

Switch off at half time but judging by the comments I guess I'll be deleting the recording of the 2nd 40. ☹️

This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.

It's amazing how people can hear the things they want to hear...

Have you just listened to Sam Burgess and his thoughts on it? Harsh to send that up as a try he said, and I agree.

I think it was similar, but in this instance the ball touched the ground before Evalds touched it - whereas last week Thewlis touched the ball before it hit the ground.

I thought it was okay.

The ball bounced up and he took it on the half-volley, if you will. I don't think he used the ground.

Good call IMO.

To sum up my season as a Wire fan.

I have not been involved in this forum this previous 2-3 years as much as I had been.

No reason as to this forum; I’m delighted to see a lot of familiar names.

I just felt that I had not watched as much RL as I should have been; particularly to make my comments relevant when my knowledge of the game is that of a late adopter.

I must admit; I’m an England RL fan and then a Wire fan then a wider RL fan (though I want the game to go well); that is just the way I came into the game.

Warrington struggling (and being turgid to watch frankly) had affected the amount of games I have watched over the prior two years. Particularly as my first love has always been man city; and having a wife (funnily enough the marriage has been exactly over the last two years) means choosing one’s battle.

This year I have really enjoyed watching us, we are executing the basics and frankly the game as a whole has been more enjoyable this year in my opinion; game feels in a good spot and I feel reinvested in the game (my wife also quite likes Vaughney which has helped)!

Hope to comment next week and into the internationals; and I hope everyone is doing well!

Good stuff Wire and good luck KR

Yes, I heard Sam Burgess's comments on it, there was a whole conversation about that earlier in the thread.

I don't know why the ref sent it up as a try rather than no try. Personally I like to give benefit of the doubt to the ref and say his TJ said he thought it was a try.

I honestly don't have much of a problem with it overall, the replays didn't conclusively say it was a try or not a try, so it was clearly close and usually benefit of the doubt goes to the attacker.

Indeed, I don't think the situations are as similar as some posters have made out.

Thewlis used the ground to help maintain control of the ball, whereas Evalds caught the ball after it bounced off the ground, he didn't touch it before it bounced.

Excellent game. Already the best play off series for a long time and we still have a huge game tomorrow and the GF to come.

It was a very even game, which means by definition that one or two moments will make all the difference.  A conversion or try / no try call.

As a neutral, I was OK with the try being given.  The bottom line is we don't don't for sure and we should always favour the attacking side in that position, that is how the laws are written.

Well done HKR, great to see a new club at Old Trafford and I hope the fans have a ball.

Bad luck Wire, I thought the second half performances this week and last showed that this team has a tough streak in them.  I hope they continue to improve next year.

Bring on Wigan Leigh.

For decades we had a good enough system, namely referee decides. Then with the advent of modern technology there is the opportunity to over-rule any obvious mistakes, otherwise the ref's decision stands. This, i.e. the present system, seems to me the best we can do. If there is a problem it's the video ref's reluctance to over-rule even when there is evidence to do so. I do agree the camera quality is ridiculously poor.

Good game, Congratulations to the toothless ones, what a great achievement.

Thought Wire were going to win it in the end, i felt they had been a bit harshly done to with a couple of decisions going against them but they stuck at it and nearly snatched it.

I guess it's probably a good thing Rovers did win as we didn't really want to see 70's style football hooliganism on our screens!

That was a joke btw due to HKR's reputation.

Enjoy the Theatre of Dreams you Robins!

The Laws of the game don't say that.

They say if you don't see the grounding that isn't a reason in itself to rule no try, they say if you don't see the grounding you can rule try or no try.

For completeness, if the "benefit of the doubt to the attacker" applied to refs call, all try decisions would be sent up as a try.
