Thought ratings were based on the last three years. That's what Beaumont at Leigh was moaning about.Because their rating when in the Championship would be lower. How do you know the teams marks they have not been submitted yet.

They were the marks give at the end of last season. I'm sure Wakefield will be 14+ but little has been reported as to any improvements Toulouse may have made, if any. Their owner was really pleased at their score at the time and implied that getting to 15 was a real possibility. Leigh and Castleford (especially) seem to have added 2.5 rising towards 3 and they were behind Toulouse so who knows. Worst-case scenario, Wakefield will pass 15 next season and thus put Huddersfield in jeopardy instead.

Win lose or draw next week, Wakefield will score above 14.0 IMG points and go up to Superleague

Brilliant isn’t it, exciting times for the club, and good for the City.  The futures looking very good.

As long as we finished above 4th in the championship we should be ok.

We started well today then tried to force it and nothing seemed to go right for us.  York played well and have been the best team that’s played us at Belle Vue.  Max Jowitt had a poor game took a knock in the first set and never seemed to recover. Probably the type of game we needed.

In what Universe have Trinity been "average" Championship winners???

Highest score for, lowest score against, top points scorer, most tries scored, most goals scored, lost only 1 game...

I haven't checked attendances - I'll leave that to you, but Wakey are about 5.5K .

Compared to all other Championship years - how the chuff are any of those metrics average!?

It's been the worst Championship in years The Championships when Leigh and Featherstone were at their peak were far superior to this seasons not forgetting when Hull KR were in it.Good luck to Wakefield they have a guaranteed place for at least three years.Credit to the new owner for investing in the club.I supported them until 1972 but too many looking after their own interests and neglecting the ground and supporters turned me off.

Had a great time today talking to some York fans in The Bridge Inn, what a cracking pub that is. I seen all the York fans getting on the 18:47 train and just about to board it and I hear Wakefield is a **** hole I wanna go home lol. You cheeky cowards 😆 talking about behind the west terrace as anyone seen that street....York fans are right it does need bulldozing down lol it would help us really do up that western side, I know on a serious note, it can't be done....shame.

Anyway enough of that, we got over the line, job done. Bring on Toulouse, another tough one but we will conquer 💪

My wife must be wrong also. She has supported WT for 45 years and she said the best team lost.

I’ll let you tell your wife she’s wrong.

If we don’t hear from you for a while at least we’ll know how that went down. 😁

This year was actually one of the most competitive championship in many years with 4-8 spaces undecided down to last game. It’s been one of the best most competitive championship in years bar Wakefield over the season.

Here’s the actual comparison with Leigh:-

2022 season (1 extra game because of the Summer bash) Played 27 Won 26 Lost 1 For 1,306 Against 208

2024 season Played 26 Won 25 Lost 1

For 1,010 Against 262. Slight difference!!

I don't think many people will share that view, tbh. Perhaps Fev's poor performance relative to previous seasons is a factor for you?

Interesting how people's view of the season come down to quite small margins, timing of how things happened and also expectations. Widnes won 14 games from 27, fans are really pleased with the coach and the team. York won 15 games, fans are pretty happy. Doncaster won 12 games, again very happy. Halifax won 11 games, it's all doom and gloom.

2021 (Covid affected season obviously) - Toulouse unbeaten, Fev lost only 1 of 21 games.

2019 Toronto Played 27 Won 26 Lost 1

It's not uncommon for there to be a runaway leader in this league.

I think the truth is somewhere in between. I do think the Championship was notably short of quality compared to quite a few previous seasons. This Toulouse team isn't a patch on the 2019 or 2021 versions for instance - I mean, it's nowhere near - but they still finished second, for which Houles deserves plenty of credit.

York improved massively once Applegarth arrived and that bumped up the quality though, and Bradford have a really strong pack - on paper, not far short of Wakefield's in terms of players who could play SL - but seemed to press the self-destruct button a lot. Widnes improved a fair bit too.

Fev, Halifax and Batley were all some way adrift of their recent better seasons, but overall what we saw was a season with much more parity barring Wakefield, with quite a few "surprise" results as a consequence, so in that respect, it could be argued it was a more interesting Championship season than for some time.

I definitely agree with your second paragraph - how fans view things depends on expectations to a large degree. From what I can gather, Fev's spend this season was fairly similar to that of a few clubs around them, and the club was pretty much in special measures at the start of the season, with the stated aim of the CEO being to finish in the top six, which they achieved (barely) but it's widely been regarded as a very disappointing season by most of the club's fans.

Think the talent was spread out amongst most clubs rather than 4 or 5 better clubs

sometimes you have to take a step backwards to move forward
