Are you really using BBC as a source for substitutions in a RL game?

Apparently yes, I did just then.

Just on your screenshot it is clear that their set up is for football, rather than other sports.

Last week the BBC thought England were playing against 3 people.

I think the same - i was sitting in the south stand and my end was overflowing - struggled to pass people to get on the concourse etc as the stairs were full etc - so i was thinking more than 16k

anyway - excellent to see a 2-0 series win. enjoyed the day out in Leeds - i think we need consistent internationals to build more atmosphere (although i didnt think it was terrible - but i had the drummer in front of me )

bring on the ashes!

I'm not surprised there was plenty of room in that corner, it was a bit of an adventure to get over there because you aren't allowed to walk down the front of that stand. I fully support of course the efforts to ensure people in the disabled area don't have their view blocked, and the stewards did a heroic job, but it did mean it would have been very difficult to fill that space.

I think some people were moved from the South to the East and West to relieve some of the pressure on the central areas.

I found that out to my cost, with a young steward scragging my arm from behind and telling me "you can't go that way bruv" as I tried to go via the front of the stand. Found our way via the entrances that say all the seat numbers on them. I didn't see it but it would help of they noted that standing areas are that way as well, especially for the likes of myself, who've spent a lifetime trying to avoid the South Stand😀

Calling Futtocks.

You seem to be an excellent provider of statistics when necessary.

I am currently fighting the Daily Telegraph Sports section viz a viz their Rugby Union v Rugby League coverage.

Today I really could do with Viewing figures for the two Internationals this afternoon.  I just feel our match will have been watched by many more than the Union match on Satellite.

If you could help I would be most grateful.

16,100 ish I think I've seen. We were in the South Stand for the first time since it's redevelopment. Very impressed with it.

That sounds low, I'm not sure where you would have been putting another 3000 odd punters.

Who was it that said Farnworth and Newman were similar? Own up now!!

Farnworth is a literal freak, Newman is a good SL centre but unless he improves that’s his level.

I also think Welsby has had a quiet series, unless I’ve missed something I can’t remember any line breaks over the 2 games which is something you’d hope for from your FB.

Glad you said that. I've been surprised how quiet Welsby has been. Normally forces his way into attacking positions regardless.

Farnworth was unplayable. Early days in an England shirt but he looks like he could end up being spoken of as one of the best backs we've had. His career path in the NRL will be interesting. Talk of him wanting to play at fullback and watching how he drifts around and causes problems every time he touches the ball, I'd like to see how it would work out.

I'll have to watch the game back but I was pretty happy with Welsby watching it live. He's not going to rip through teams himself but he takes some nice options with the ball and tests defences. He's not had his best season but he's a class act.

I know what you mean but feel this has been much more balanced this year between 1-6-7 in terms of attacking structure etc. Welsby been solid but maybe not a standout compared to last year due to the solid performances of Smith and Williams?

Well, considering they suggest Simi Sasagi never got on the pitch when he actually played 43 minutes, I would suggest the BBC got it wrong yes.

May played 56 minutes across 2 stints, details here England v Toa Samoa - Round 3, 2024 - Match Centre | NRL.com

Went to the game today, enjoyed it. Sat in the South Stand and was my first time in it since redevelopment. Was definitely busy but good none the less. I think for anyone but Australia it should be a staple ground for internationals - always gets a decent crowd and assume decent corporate as well.

As for the game - a convincing win. Farnworth was brilliant. And England overall have been strong this series. I know lots of talk of a 3 game series but I actually think for a Tonga or Samoa, 2 games is probably about right.

Welsby has been solid in both games with a few nice touches, but the odd error too. He has done his job, but I got screamed at and told he was the best player in SL earlier in the year when I said he had regressed, and I stand by it.

On Newman, I was surprised today by just how poor his tackling technique is when you think of the quality of coaching he will have had.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

That does seem low given where I was in the East stand.

I was thinking 18,000 but still looked good for them playing against Samoa and reminded me of my 2nd ever game of Rugby League 31 years ago when New Zealand played last test at Headingley......if managed right International Rugby League could have a bright future.

Perhaps one other comment - for a good size crowd the atmosphere was very muted and the event again was non existent. I think the latter can help the former as can get people hyped up before the game.

Sorry; without a paid subscription to B.A.R.B., useful viewing figures are harder to come by these days.

Farnworth had a cracking game. England were a good bit better than Samoa in this match. The atmosphere at Headingley was pretty quiet really. I was sat in the north stand and it was quite muted if I'm honest.

certainly did !  without his contribution this game would have been far closer .
