Dragons are not going to make the top 8 in the NRL and are still 2 weeks away from the start of the season for them are matching Warrington who will be one of the favourites to be in the GF. Warrington should be killing the Dragons at home. So many errors from Wire. The Ref needs to speed the Play the Ball up as well its way too slow. Wires fitness should see them home but they would struggle against one of the better teams in the NRL like the Roosters, Rabbitohs, Storm etc on this showing.

Not wanting to focus on the ref.. BUT, he was bloody awful. One of the worst performances i've seen for some time. Nabuli should have been sent off, without a doubt. Countless flops by St. George players, a rule all SL ref's seem to ignore constantly, and what seemed like a refusal to blow the whistle for obvious penalties.. Warrington fans and players can be rightly frustrated and unhappy.

That aside Warrington made way too many errors, and didn't play the ref as well as the Dragons did.

A great game, in my view. St George looked more "solid" to me, stronger in the arm(!) Kicking game just not up to St George standards, either.  The Aussies were VERY lucky to end with a full side.

Not really true. Dragons are 2 weeks away from the start of their season so haven't had a competitive game yet, are a long way away from home and had to compete with a vocal crowd. Add to that that they are a mid-table NRL side, where Warrington are one of our top sides, plus they led from the second minute to the end.

Commiserations to Warrington. STGI are a very good side and it was never going to be easy. I believe that the Wolves, and British Rugby League in general, should be proud of that. We watched one of our sides go toe to toe with a good NRL side and the result could very easily have been the other way around. It was an excellent game that was a great advert for the sport, being tough and competitive throughout.

 

I hope they expand this format further. It brought back some very fond memories of the tournament from the late 90s (which I loved as a kid, even if not many other people apparently did!) and created some new ones. We saw tonight that the strong Super League sides are on a par with NRL sides and I hope people won't be too down about the fact that we didn't get the result we wanted. It was a great night for the game and that's the most important thing!
