He played the chief torturer in Ken Russell's The Devils, which is especially incongruous given how recognisable his face was. You could almost imagine Yootha Joyce's voice going "George, what DO you think you're doing? Stop tormenting that nice man and change out of that scruffy cassock IMMEDIATELY!"
