Your clubs 'cringe' moment

For even the most one eyed supporters every club seems to have a cringe moment, something that even the most committed find embarrassing be it new ground name, nickname, mascot, off the wall signing or publicity stunt, awful kit, merger, or questionable directors, what's yours?

London's whole season in their last SL campaign.

Castleford - either giving Dwain Chambers a run out or when they invited supporters to sign up to an 'e-male' list.

For my own part, not following any particular club anymore it's the way the game has been portrayed on TV in non sports programmes like the Selwyn Froggett series or the Sunday night series that included a amatuer team in it's plotline, can't remember the name but my ex used to watch it whilst I cringed behind a book or newspaper. I think we dodged a bullet that the likes of Dicky Bird or Parkinson were born 40miles to the south of our heartland, but the Colin Welland era was another to suffer through?

Releasing an official statement on ‘season goals’ and stating they’re aiming for 5 league wins.

Claiming to have signed and registered 50-60 players and frequently failing to name a full bench.

- West Wales Raiders debut season.

Plenty to name for Halifax but "Ostickgate" has to be up there when we were thrown out of the CC on the day of a game for playing a player who had played for another team in an earlier round. Amazingly some of the people involved are still at the club.

I'm torn between the Wendal Sailor "signing", the Shaun Edwards "appointment" or watching each and every one of Doc Murrays first team appearances for Wigan!

The Eagles' decision to go full-time is the worst, but playing at some of the worst venues in rugby league comes close (*)

(*) Yes, I know, we played at Belle Vue,. Very amusing.

"I am the avenging angel; I come with wings unfurled, I come with claws extended from halfway round the world. I am the God Almighty, I am the howling wind. I care not for your family; I care not for your kin. I come in search of terror, though terror is my own; I come in search of vengeance for crimes and crimes unknown. I care not for your children, I care not for your wives, I care not for your country, I care not for your lives." - (c) Jim Boyes - "The Avenging Angel"

Wakefield is heartland, and Barnsley is about 10 miles away!

So many terrible things in the game in general, I've lost track. The film version of Up'n'Under was pretty grim.

Mecca bingo on the front of the shirt

The Shaun Edwards scandal - rolling him out in a club polo top and lying to the fans.
