moorside roughyed Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 Now then, with widnes and toulouse out of the way we may go into a game with a realistic chance of winning. Any thoughts. No disrespect to Whitehaven intended.
clifford Posted February 8, 2020 Posted February 8, 2020 This is a must win game, we need to collect points against Swinton dewsbury whitehaven and batley.

Agreed, these games are very important. As we have seen there are some games we aren't going to be able to compete for so the other games are going to be more important. Are there any injury concerns from the Toulouse game, the less injuries the better obviously.
jroyales Posted February 10, 2020 Posted February 10, 2020 Talking to the players after the game it was said there weren't any more injuries and Leeming said he hopes to play.
roughyed1064 Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 be surprised if this game is on tomorrow.
Tangle Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 I hope it’s on off for a weekend in the lakes
Logic Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 The weather forecast for Cumbria is very bad all weekend, not so much the rain on Sunday, but very strong winds. So, the game could realistically, be in some doubt. Whatever, we've reluctantly cancelled our trip up, because of the conditions. Good luck and a safe journey to the team and anyone else who is going up.
m brooksy Posted February 15, 2020 Posted February 15, 2020 What we reckon the team will be if the game is on. I'd go with Abram, Kay,Croft,Leeming,Aaronson,Charnock,Hewitt,Joy,Owen,Beckett,Langtree,Bridge,Bent. subs:Wilkinson,Spencer,Fletcher,Gwaze. Would split up Joy and Spencer and keep Spanner on the bench so we've always got some experience on the pitch at prop. Both centres would be a huge boost as we have struggled hugely there at the start of the season. Croft may be young but he had a couple of cracking performances especially against Saints.
Fluffybed Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Just seen on the main RL thread, Whitehaven v Oldham is ON
Fluffybed Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 * Forum, not thread. I got a bit excited at getting the news across.
tub Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 That’s good looking forward to watching the stream later
moorside roughyed Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Just parked up in Whitehaven. Going to get some tea then walk to the ground. Come on Oldham!
OLD YED Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Good luck Oldham. Too far for myself to travel but hope the team come away with a win.
Piggy's mate Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Looking forward to watching this game, be interesting who comes out on top. As Haven don't have any forum presence, I'm going for an Oldam win by 10 Touch Rugby W(h)inger and part-time Super Hero (Thursday mornings by appointment) BATLEY BULLDOGS RLFC
YoungYed Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 How are we not winning this more than 8 should of gone over then in the last minute
m brooksy Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Get in. We made that so difficult but a win is a win
FailsworthYed Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Made it difficult for ourselves again but job done...
saints10coach Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Good workmanlike performance. But we had the game in the bag and should have gone on to win by a larger margin, but went in to self destruct mode. You cannot afford to give away penalties on their last tackle. Saying that I think the penalty try was an harsh decision, I thought their No 23 still had a chance of getting to him. Thought the ref was OK and did not take any messing from either team.
thecrab Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Superb win, discipline poor but abram pen try and great kicking won it in the end, well done lads
tub Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Great effort , too many pens gifted them a way back into the game but held on for a deserved win
Steve the Roughyed Posted February 16, 2020 Posted February 16, 2020 Started to watch the stream from when we went up 4-14 ? Then saw a spell of self destruct with knock on from unnecessary pass and several consecutive penalties. Thought, oh no, here we go, but well done in the end . A great two points.
moorside roughyed Posted February 16, 2020 Author Posted February 16, 2020 Just got back from Whitehaven, the boys did well. They did make it more difficult for themselves. They got the win so massive well done from me,well done boys.
Havenfan10 Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 Everything seemed to go Oldhams way tonight. Lucky first try and penalty try from 20 meters out!! Never seen a penalty try giving so far away from the try line. Unbelievable!! But both teams need a bit of luck in this league and Oldham had it tonight. Good luck for the rest of the season hope both teams stay up.
The Art of Hand and Foot Posted February 17, 2020 Posted February 17, 2020 A win's a win, even scrappy ones like this. A couple of years ago we were losing close games. This was an important 4 pointer. Whitehaven will be consoling themselves with missed chances and scoring more tries. But I'd rather have an ugly win than a beautiful loss. As for the penalty try, I always thought a trip ,whether deliberate or not, was a straight red? Thought the player was lucky to only get 10 .minutes.
