Rhinoferg Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Just for fun, pick a first name, then put together a team of players from over the tears. Team of PAUL'S 1.Wellens 2. Sterling 3. Loughlin 4. Newlove 5. Eastwood 6. Cooke 7. Deacon 8. Gallen 9. Hulme 10. Dixon 11. Sironen 12. Harragon 13. Sculthorpe 14. Anderson 15. Johnson 16. McShane 17. Medley Coach Cullen I also tried putting together a team of Gary's which isn't as easy as I thought because the name is dying out.

You could allow yourself Garry and Gareth, to make the job do-able, I suppose. Let me never fall into the vulgar mistake of dreaming that I am persecuted whenever I am contradicted. Adelaide Tiger Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Does Pauli Pauli count as one or two players? As you could have PAULI Pauli by using his first name and then have Pauli PAULI Using his surname. What about Henry and Robbie Paul? Do they count? Never mind it’s my bedtime now ..... time to take my medication.

yanto Posted May 18, 2020 Posted May 18, 2020 Talking names... Ian McQuorcodale, Ian Thompson, Ian Rudd, Ian Wright.. Workington Town back line in the late 70s and Ian Hartley in the forwards. Got a bit confusing who the coach was shouting at

Tommygilf Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Biased but Toms (probably reflecting my age too) 1. Tom Trbojevic 2. Tom lineham 3. Gareth Thomas 4. Tom Johnstone ( shoehorned in I know) 5. Tommy Makinson 6. Tommy Martyn 7. Thomas Leuluai 8. Tom Burgess 9. Tommy Lee 10. Tom Leroyd-Lahrs 11. 12. 13. Bit stumped with the final 3 tbh without going into pre war era players, naturally when searching for Toms or Thomas's you get a lot of Welsh converts too. Also theres a lot of Wingers and Fullbacks!
Bleep1673 Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Blackpool, Chorley, Huyton, Runcorn Trafford (Don't start the Manchester Lions aregument again) Southend,/Maidstone, I'm surprised Brighton hasn't had a go. Mansfield, Scunthorpe Altrincham.

JonM Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Tom Olbison at second row? The Warrington/Leigh/GB second-row forward of the 1970s, Tommy Martyn is probably a bit before your time and would be playing in the same team as his son Tommy at stand-off.

In that case, put Tommy Snr to SO, move Tommy Jnr to loose and push Tommy Smales to SR..........ooo! It's like being a GB manager in the early 90s, playing g people out of position to get them in the team
Wollo Wollo Wayoo Posted May 19, 2020 Posted May 19, 2020 Listening to the Sky pundits, I can't believe there isn't a team of "Matties" out there. That abbrev. of Matthew does my head in. He played there in quite a few cup finals and when Warrington beat Australia on the 1978 tour.
