All this will be forgotten about when the teams take the field in a few weeks in front of the cameras.

That did happen to Swinton back in 1932, it remains the only time they have made the final since the switch to Wembley. The final was played at Central Park as Wembley was unavailable. Steve Slater
We don't want "Money Making Friendlies", who knows whether we'll still have restrictions next year? The best way to compensate the non-SL clubs would be to pay them a bonus out of the prize money as if they had won their tie and reached the quarter-finals, even if it means the remaining sides have to take a bit less. After all, the remaining SL clubs will have saved money by not having to play a loss-making tie.

The Hallucinating Goose
Some good ties, Wire v Saints is the one that jumps out, get one of those two out of the way. Cats/Wakey/Salford might be fancying getting to the final which would be great. I would have liked an easier path through for us but what you gonna do. We might well lose to whichever of you or Cas gets through particularly if that can be a home tie for you or them, but I'm happy enough not to have to see yet another game for us against Warrington. Salford appear the club that would be happiest from the re-draw as they avoid playing Saints (as per the original draw) and get a bye, then get a winnable tie to get to the last 4 (no disrespect meant to Catalans or Wakey). To be honest, I don't really know what to think about that draw for us, until the season really gets going we won't have a clue how anyone is performing. Should these have been normal circumstances then Cas and Wigan would not be very encouraging but anything could happen.

They should have just put 3 balls in a hat, each with the original all-SL ties, and picked 2 out that would remain. The one left would see both teams having a bye, this keeping the original ties. And this isn't just because Hull should have had a bye and now have 2 difficult fixtures...

I reckon all 3 of Cats/Salford/Wakey will be thinking they've got a good path through to the final there - it'll come down to which team manages to get up to speed quickest after the restart. Hard to say yet. RFL will be a bit nervous though if we end up with final tickets to sell...

The chance for one of them to reach the final is certainly greater than it was before the re-draw (even though Cats and Wakey have to play in round 6 rather than a bye) as one of them will be in the semi finals and all 3 of them are capable of beating one of the other teams in a one off game. Yes.. but this is the whole point of a cup competition and how it's drawn. The harsh reality is that there are is a division, an increasingly wide division, between the SL and the rest. The Cup has changed and the likes of the classic Hunslet v Wigan final seems a long way away. That was the era of one league and everyone part time and with amateur Welsh players "turning pro". The game has changed now, and the way the cup is drawn means that it's going to be the same top teams who arrive at the final.

No. It isn't a kitty that gets divided up as such. Each team that loses at each stage of the cup gets a set amount of prize money for reaching that stage. The lower league clubs that withdrew have forfeited their ties and will each receive the prize money for a 6th round losing team. The losers of the two ties taking place will each get the same as those 5 clubs. As there are only 7 "losing" clubs, then the remaining money that would have gone to the 8th losing team will either be retained by the RFL, divided between the 7 or should TWP continue next year and the RFL are feeling generous they could be given the money for the 8th losing team (as they also withdrew like the other 5). So it's a bit of a win/win bonus for the clubs shepherded straight into the next round and a loss for those who had an effective bye until then? Good to hear that Fev, York etc. should be getting a 6th round loser payment then too. This world was never meant for one as beautiful as me.
