RFL and IRL may be pushed together by having a common enemy now A summer Nines series in British cities with teams called Samoa, Ireland, England, USA but using unknowns to mirror The Hundred ('The Nines") would be a great start to this new relationship. Sky want our sport to be more dynamic and forward thinking. That's the start. The international game must learn to do without NRL players if it is to realise its commercial ambitions. Certainly worth exploring. Old f@rts of a conservative bent seem to hate The Hundred but it's a solid gold hit. It's essentially putting an old product in new packaging, of course, but I think they've done a fantastic job of making cricket appear young, fresh and exciting. Man of Kent
Jon Dutton on Sky Sports for the Leeds Vs. Wire game. Doesn’t sound like a man who’s about to pull the plug on the RLWC.

Chris22
Agreed Dutton came across well. Certainly seems determined to proceed if in any way possible. I have no worries about the tournament being a success without them, all hinges on whether NRL players can secure releases to play. 1 Twitter: @TrylineUK Latest Blog: Leeds' Indian Summer

Great to see as an Irish person you sing our National Anthem to our Queen with pride at Liverpool matches- well done lad. Hope to see you at Newcastle singing it for Englands first WC game. Sure we were all signing it before team GB got smacked around the place by PNG on the last tour.

Well whatever happens now, at least we shown a bit of balls and came out fighting. In previous years, we'd have just cowered to the demands of the NRL and cancel the tournament straight away.

I have no idea what you mean by the last line. His CV could very well be impressive. So far he can’t include “delivered successful Rugby League World Cup” and, even when he can, I’d rather we have the best person leading the complex beast of the RFL (which may be Dutton) rather than just give it to someone because they were the visible face of one project. Because we had years of “Sally Bolton should do this” after the 2013 World Cup and it really did show up how small time our view often is. Build a man a fire, and he'll be warm for a day.
