Thanks for admitting that they were Aussies.

It wasn’t a secret, at least not mine to keep. I was open about it from the start.

I really enjoyed the coverage. Adam Hills and the C4 presentation are a breath of fresh air.

Great result for Saints and Super League, who (I thought) were worthy winners.

Here's a glimpse into my soul - It was clear the Penrith fans were unhappy the booing was audible throughout, no more so than when Makinson was attempting his conversion.

I was disappointed that they virtually cleared the ground (in minutes) before the official declaration of the result and presentation of the cup.

Come on Penrith?

I'm still clinging to the belief, that it's supposed to be a sporting contest played (and watched) by gentlemen.

Nothing in The Telegraph. No real surprise though. They only covered the World Cup when The Princess of Wales attended a game.

There was a piece in The Sunday Telegraph together with a photo of Dodd hiring the SG

Mate when I moved to Sydney when I was 18 the first game I went to was at Penrith. The weather forecast said potential showers so I made the mistake of taking an umbrella (like a gentleman does), boy what a mistake, heckled all afternoon for having it. Mate, not many gentlemen out Panthers way.

Have you been to Penrith.... different breed out that way - their team suits them.

Was it in this?

The Sunday Telegraph will become home to a weekly puzzles pull-out section.

Obviously I meant the puzzles as the pull-out section will be for Cas forwards sheltering from't rain in t'entry.

IMG have a massive job in terms of exposure - beyond media coverage.

My dad travelled through Haydock and Blackbrook to attend a St Helens Hospital appointment yesterday afternoon. Dad found it sad he only saw one bit of Saints merchandise, a car sticker, but around a dozen items of Liverpool FC  paraphernalia displayed in homes and cars, as well as worn.

Admittedly, it was for an eye check-up... but you get the drift of how IMG will have to earn their money for RL to capture hearts and minds throughout the heartlands, as well as across the UK.

Well Saints need to do more obviously.

IMG can only do a certain amount the clubs need to do their bit

I used to live in Blacktown which is more or less next to Penrith so i know what you mean, but by the same token Rugby League is king there and unchallenged, and have lots and lots of junior teams there as well. It's a Rugby League production line

A quarter of a page with a pic of Walmsley with the trophy in the Times today. Not too bad, really.

And unusual!

Great coverage in the Sunday MIirror and People, but nothing in  Mail on Sunday. However, there is an excellent article on Paul Wellens in today’s Daily Mail.

Let's hope these are signs things are changing.

Good to hear. Shame they didn’t put it on the website though.

Bottom of the back page on the Sunday Telegraph. It would have been nice to see a follow-up piece in Monday's paper, with quotes, reflection and appreciation.

I think the lack of a national figure like Michael Parkinson allows the broadsheets to give RL the scantest of coverage.

Heaven forbid I defend Penrith fans, but the match finished over an hour late I think after 90% of the fans were soaked head to toe. I would question if I would stay for a press even if my team won

What has that got to do with anything with the quotes in your post or anything which has been discussed so far on this thread?

Or are you simply reaffirming that by having lived in Blacktown, you are also a different breed and neither a gentleman?

Losing fans don't stay for trophy presentations. They leave to take advantage of being first in the pub and/or the emptier traffic.

I joined an Aussie RL forum early this year. First response to my first post was an accusation of AFL bias. Didn't see that coming.

Gave the bloke short shrift and second response began "Sorry I thought you was a Fumbler".
