Even the most myopic Wire fan should concede they were well and truly second best this evening, Leigh should have had more points on the board at half time and it wasn't a case of Warrington not defending well Keigh were just so much better, different story second half Wire came out to stamp their authority but Leigh withstood the onslaught manfully and then scored a classic through Charnley, Kasiano drops a ball trying to deliver a magic pass, scooped up by MOM Ben Reynolds who sprinted 60 yards to scored under the sticks for the final score 30 - 12.

Great performance tonight, it's incredible to see the atmosphere building now down at the LSV. It's unrecognisable from the one sided championship games with 50-100 away fans gathered at the far end of the West stand most games last season.

Credit to a big Wire following for adding to the noise and the intensity of the match.

Amone and Mulhern did huge minutes and got a massive Wire pack on the back foot from the off. Ipape starting to cause some real havoc in opposition defences now and living up to the hype from last season.

Not many Leigh fans had Reynolds down as 1st choice half in pre-season. Early injury for Joe Mellor gave him his chance to shine and he's seized it with both hands.

Played out of his skin and a well deserved MoM tonight.

Up the Leopards!

Leigh keep showing that given the funds Championship sides can freshen up SL.

Leigh are an SL side though.

Very commendable away support from Wire fans, Amone and Mulhern can not be far of being the two form props in SL at the present time and it seems they love the big name props facing them, Vaughan last night and previously Walmsley were well and truly hammered by both of them.

Not blowing my own trumpet but I would have - and stated more than once on these pages - Ben in before Joe as first choice half back anytime, Ben's game has changed since the arrival of Mr Lam he takes on the line when nessacary andis a team player whereas Joe is an individual he doesn't know what he is doing half the time so I don't expect his team mates would either, then to really confirm Ben's selection there is the added benefit of his kicking.

Excellent win for the Leythers who are probably exceeding the expectations of even their headiest fans?

As for Wire, well they win the thing after 6 games or so so doubt they'd be bothered about another defeat?

Absolutely, my ambitions for this year didn't go much past 9th place even if we had a good year. I thought we'd be competitive in most games but ultimately come up short in quite a lot of them.

Of our squad, there's only Ben Reynolds that has done more than 2 full seasons with the club and most of them only arrived after January last year so what Lam has done in terms of building a team ethic and culture is nothing short of remarkable. Last night we looked like a team that's been together 3 or 4 seasons at least.

I'm under no illusions , expected us to be safe from the drop , but also expected us to be struggling with injuries by now as we have seen in other SL seasons , fortunately we've managed to stay clear up to now ( apart from losing O'Brien due to a deliberate IMO foul against Wigan , which also cost us against Salford , also IMO ) , but just typically we bring in Frankie Halton from HKR and after 20 minutes we lose him for 2/3 months

Stay clear of injuries and we can beat anybody , I've posted all this with my fingers crossed hoping not to ' jinx ' us 🙄

Credit to the back room team for keeping the players fit and fresh. I was over the moon and had a good few Estrellas for the boys last night celebrating a great Win here in Grand Canaria.

Let’s not lose the focus next week. Another good win and performance required. Well played !

Got to be honest I didn’t think Reynolds was good enough for a SL half back but he has certainly proved me wrong. Well done really glad for you guys.

Absolutely terrific win for Leigh, they have so well this year.

Think the notion that Adrian Lam can't coach attacking rugby can be put to bed now. 130 points for, 34 against in May. Screenshot_20230527_003724_BBCSport.jpg.541221246522f8ffea9d0104d43bb345.jpg

It shouldn't have been a notion in the first place to be fair. We never really played great attacking rugby under Lam but we never had a decent pack to lay the platform for the attacking players (we still don't really, but it's improved and Peet deserves a lot of credit for what he's getting out of those forwards).

From what I've seen of Leigh this season they've got a very strong pack, with players like Amone, Asiata, O'Donnell and even Mulhern having some big games consistently, as well as Ipape being a massive threat. Most promoted teams have some decent players in there, some decent halves or outside backs, but Leigh's pack has been very impressive and is the reason they are doing so well in my opinion.
