Fans of any sport vote with their feet, football fans by and large are satisfied,

Sometimes wonder about the commitment of Soccer fans when the current model of their EPL club is so unrecognizable from the past. Suppose the answer is that these are not the same type of people as yesteryear.

I detect a similar divergence in NRL between fans attending games (who tend to be younger) and forum members (who tend to be older).

Evidenced by the widespread incomprehension on LU that this Friday's Wests/Parra spoon game appears to have sold-out. Probably arises because back in the days of the NSWRL comp such a "dead rubber" would be shunned by all and sundry.

Imagination how big it would be if it had the threat of relegation and the club killing financial devastation of lower league football.

Hull KR are adding 1,000 temporary seats to the south end of the ground (in front of Craven Streat) for the final home match against Leeds, and the subsequent home play off match. Now if that's not a good news story I don't know what is.

With the crowds they are getting then surely its only a matter of time before they put a permanent stand there.

They're adding 1,000 temporary seats (in a roofed stand) on to the South end of the East stand in the post-season, already booked in.

According to Paul Lakin at the last fans forum the sequence is then 1) extend East Stand to the South properly, assuming those temporary seats prove demand is sustainable, 2) rebuild and extend the West Stand, and then only if needed would we 3) build an away terrace at the South end. Think the last part is a long way off to be honest, this move today shows that the club can always spool-up some temp seats there quickly for particularly high-demand matches, which seems the intelligent way to do it.

Cheers, it'll be a pretty tidy ground when they do that to the East and West Stands.

The atmosphere always seems great and that’s partly due to the ground just about being big enough.

Yeah, the West Stand is the dream. We need more "premium" seats and hospitality capacity, just as Leeds have got, think that's the goal really. But you're looking at £15m+ though so it's all dependent on being able to do the wider property development on the land around the ground, no way the club (or directors) will be able to fund it without that. So quite a long way off. The business case just doesn't stack up on its own these days, with post-Covid construction costs.

There's a lot in this. At the end of the day we still only get 10,000... at Hull FC's ground that sort of crowd is a nightmare. I'm a big fan of boutique grounds, and only scaling up when you really need to (and flexing up and down if you can)

Leeds can be pants but they continue to have that pulling power.

I was sat in it once and its pretty annoying with the stanchions getting in the way. Even underneath as far as I recall is very dated with little rooms etc.

As far as I'm concerned Wigan and Leeds are the organisational benchmarks to aim for, perhaps more than Saints despite Leeds recent lack of success. Just the commercial engine they have around the business.

I guess it's helped by being a one club city, and if Rovers or Hull were the solo side here then perhaps one of them could achieve the same stuff, but whilst people give him a lot of stick I really do think Hetherington has built pretty strong foundations there.

Hull KR getting full attendances, superb results, ultra positive vibe about the club

Are you sure they are a RL team?

Leigh deserve huge credit for getting such great crowds.

Yes, Derek has done a great job, the attendance progress there in 3 years is amazing. Just shows what is possible with effort (and considerable investment).

That is the reality though, £15m plus outlay for a dozen or so games a year. It makes it difficult to justify, however renting  temporary stands for the two or three biggest games is a very smart move. Well done HKR.

Maybe all/most Super League grounds should be like that.

I think clubs like Leigh and Hull KR show that if done right then crowds can be built up. They’ve both created a real buzz around match days

Yet Leigh potentially on the brink of being relegated via IMG
