I think clubs like Leigh and Hull KR show that if done right then crowds can be built up. They’ve both created a real buzz around match days

Quite right. Well said.

Yet Leigh potentially on the brink of being relegated via IMG

What’s that got to do with them building their crowds and creating a buzz?
They still have done that regardless of your negative comment

Leigh will be an A grade

Well if they are it shows what a farce the grading system is, already 7 grade A’s ?? So it seems to highlight a very low bar

8000 plus average, great financials, great stadium and facilities, fantastic match day experience, highly competitive, LD teams, women undefeated, Junior structures in place and academy 2025

You really have a problem

That’s with the temporary seats?

seems a bit low that’s all.

Yep. Current capacity is 10,400, then add the temp seats to that. It'll be 11,400 permanently next season with the longer-term temporary seating added to the East stand before we extend it properly. It works for us because we can run close to capacity every week, great for atmosphere. Just build it bit-by-bit.

Spot on. This is whole point of the gradings. Leigh have worked really hard to develop the club against the criteria, and it's only right they should be rewarded for it. Yes maybe their catchment is a bit small, but that's only one factor and we're not exactly short of other clubs with the same issue. Good for them I say, it's a real success story.

I'm not sure either "Framing the Future" or the former toothless 'licensing' model ever delivered this level of progress in some clubs' mindsets around what they needed to improve. And yet still people moan about the idea!

Anyone know what sort of attendances any clubs in the NCL or SCL get?

I remember being at crowds in the NCL with over 1500, maybe even 2000+.

My biggest surprise was a game I watched between Aberavon Fighting Irish and Bridgend Blue Bulls in the Welsh conference. I think it may have been the Welsh Conference launch. There would have been 1500 - 2000 there that day. I still have the match program somewhere and think there were 4 or 5 former Welsh International or SL players running around that day. Devereaux and Bateman being two. Maybe Gibbs. Was a great day for it.

Does anyone know the average weekly SL crowds for this season so far? Is it up or down?

I have a feeling they may be down on last season, but it would be fantastic news if they increased again. Going on the Saints gates this season there has been a drop in crowds. Knowing some people who have stopped attending it comes down to two things

1. The Coach. 2. His dreadful tactics.

I don’t blame them either it has been Dullsville under Mr H Conversations.

The atmosphere always seems great and that’s partly due to the ground just about being big enough.

Watching from the otherside of the world games at Hull KR and Castleford always comes across as a great atmosphere on TV.

So it surprised me when I started visiting these forums to learn how much Cas in particular cop for their dilapidated stadium. Haha.

Huddersfield the opposite. Great looking stadium. Shame about the crowds.

I’m a Leigh membership holder, we’ve done a fantastic but only been in SL at a competitive level for 18 months women undefeated in the lower tier not SL, Acadamy as you say not even started yet, it doesn’t look like we will get points for the 7.5k average

loving every minute of it but it really shouldn’t be that “easy” to get a top grading - we are barely established at this level

I realise this includes away fans but the population of Leigh is only 46,000 - that is an incredible proportion of local citizens watching the club.

Leigh’s genuine catchment area is about 100000 the bus route homecoming after the CCF was met by huge crowds in Astley, Tyldesley, Atherton and Leigh. Then add in Culcheth/GlazeburyGolborne Lowton etc

Hopefully YES

Back in another life worked on a pirate radio ship where 50% were raving Queens A Grade was their reference for someone with a nice bum:(((

Would prefer for my mental health they call it something else 😉

16,719 at Wigan- given the massive away following I thought it might be a bit more than that. Still obviously a very good crowd.

Agree, big end of season top of the table clash with a large away following, you would have thought 20k would be possible

We have had a chuckle at Hull KR down the years for their away support, but fair play to those who went last night with the M62 shut. Dread to think what time they got home.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

Will be interesting to see Huddersfield’s crowd against London, given they only got 3800 against saints.

No, it won't.

We could move this game to Laund Hill and still not have a full capacity.....;)

Salfords crowd looks a bit better than usual - looks like that promotion on lower ticket prices has worked.

I feared the ground would look almost empty for the bbc game
