daz39
At tonights End of season awards Ken Davy has announced he is to become the Chairman replacing Keith Hellawell who becomes the club president. The fans have been asking for change at the top and this seems to be the start. In even more exciting news, Ken also announced the club are to build their own stadium in the future. This is excellent news for us and hopefully will see us leave that god awful soulless blue and white dump forever.

Henson Park Old Firm
Roughly how big 10k staduim?
daz39
12,000 minimum i believe, similar to Wire with terracing at side and behind sticks will do me, a mini Fartown will be fantastic
bratman
A new dedicated 12k stadium would be fantastic for Huddersfield, and will hopefully be a catalyst to engage with fans and help grow the support base, ironically given it would be a smaller stadium. Presumably we're looking at medium/long term though.
sentoffagain2
It may be Kens parting gift to Huddersfield. When he eventually passes a long time off i hope perhaps a new stadium will be his legacy.

It's exactly what the club needs, we have lost more fans because of the stadium than we have gained in the last 15 years.

Really? People decide not to go to a rugby game because the stadium is GOOD?? I find that very hard to believe. I think that's just a smoke and mirrors excuse for the fact the Huddersfield is simply not an RL town.
Gerrumonside ref
Great news for Huddersfield that all fans should welcome. An RL asset in the offing and the chance for Giants fans to have a home of their own again plus creates a few jobs and supporting industry. Much better to be in a noisy tight stadium than the equivalent pea on a drum.

I think that's just a smoke and mirrors excuse for the fact the Huddersfield is simply not an RL town. It's not good though, it's a millstone around our neck. We will never get anywhere near to filling it, we get no income from it, apart from the hospitality we sell, we have no branding within it, we lose IMG points with it, we have no retail or entertainment space, we have no say in the running of it. We are also hampered by the perception that there is no one in it, we average around 5,000 but yet no one would know that without looking as it doesn't come across like that on TV. The club are loath to compress the stands for fear of upsetting and losing even more fans. The stadium offers an all round poor experience for fans of Rugby, it's not a good stadium, it's a horrid place to be where the Giants are concerned.
ATLANTISMAN
Can Fartown be redeveloped

I'm pretty sure we would all love to return to our spiritual home if it was possible.
dboy
Have you considered merging with Sheffield? They have plenty of land to develop and grow their new stadium build.
Welshleaguelover
Fantastic news for them. One of the biggest issues facing our game is suitable stadiums.
dboy
I do hope we see some tangible plans soon, and that this wasn't just a fish thrown to the seals, in order to move the gaze away from Huddersfield's woeful season. I’d have thought around 8k would be ideal, with potential to expand if necessary.

Odsal Outlaw
Good news in some respects, but also feels a bit of an admission of defeat that its seen as a success to be leaving a good stadium because you can’t attract enough fans. 2 Nottingham Outlaws Rugby League Harry Jepson Winners 2008 RLC Midlands Premier Champions 2006 & 2008 East Midlands Challenge Cup Winners 2005, 2006, 2007 & 2008 Rotterdam International 9's Cup Winners 2005 RLC North Midlands Champions 2003 & 2004
Agbrigg
Well first of all he would need a plot of land, then a large pot of money even small 10k stadiums cost a fair bit these days. Could be years before things happen, however I do agree it's definitely needed.
