Will it just make games finish even later, it won’t bother me if i am watching it at home but that won’t be the case if i am at a match.
Then if a game goes into golden point we could be looking at 10pm finish for a night match. Will that attract fans or will it put some supporters off especially following their side away.

How many extra times do you foresee this going to the video ref? I think this point has been greatly exaggerated.

I don't really watch the NRL too much but it's not particularly noticeable as a delay of game there. I don't have a problem with it at all. It gives the referee a useful weapon in terms of control and places the onus on players to back up their moans.

My main worry is if our tv games have the broadcast quality to make this work and whether a load will be inconclusive.

Totally agree we are far far behind Aus in the number of camera's and the clarity of the broadcast quality we utilise.

To make this work, and to improve the whole process, we need to move to the video refs being a team rather than just one guy and them having direct control/access to the camera angles rather than being reliant on asking "have you got anything else on that one?"

If they can't spot a mistake by the Ref in 40 seconds the decision stays as it was called.

As in the 'Bunker' they use in Aus? That seems to work quite well.

If we did go down that road though, I doubt it wouldn't be long before this VR team as in Aus will be allowed to question the legality of a try that has already been awarded by the on field ref, and show replays of any questionable incident.

Trouble is in the UK so much of that time can be wasted just getting the correct shots and angles.

It doesn't need to be in a bunker, they can be in a van at the stadium but with more control.

They are not literally in a bunker that is just the name they are located. From Google:-

The NRL Bunker is located at Australian Technology Park in Eveleigh, Sydney, Australia. It's a centralized facility that allows referees to make video referee decisions for the National Rugby League (NRL).
The Bunker is a state-of-the-art facility that provides referees with access to multiple camera angles of the game. This allows them to make decisions more quickly and consistently. The Bunker also features Switchable Privacy Glass, which allows the review officials to monitor games in private or transparently.

At times during last season you could hear the VR stating which camera angle he wanted or which camera number & he was still shown the wrong one. A lot of the issues were down to the relatively inexperienced TV crews due to the increase number of matches covered

I thought we've had a bunker style central location for a year now already. That's how they could get all the games on telly.

I think we should come up with our own name and not use the Bunker, that would just be a lazy copy.  I suggest we use Central Hub Evaluating All Team’s Erroneous Refereeing

We would probably need to use an acronym to make it shorter and catchier, but it would work I think.

Dependant on the ref, some games will last all day as some get most calls wrong, especially gang ball steals.

Gonna be fun this! 😂 😂

That would explain why you don't like it then 😉

While we are at it,please allows refs the option of can't tell/unsighted when going to the video ref.

That would avoid the contortions required to justify the refs opinion which was evident on some occasions last season.

News to me Sam, if you look at the weekly Referee's appointments they always name a VR for each match which I thought they attended and where they did the VR from, happy to be corrected though.

And in Aus I believed that the 'bunker' had a panel of adjudicators, that would 'call' all the games, unlike us who appointed by the week.

This is all that I could find that somewhat backs it up. It does say one VR was actually at the match whereas the other matches were adjudicated from a base in Wilmslow. Whether that was the case for the whole season, I'm not sure.

Also, no indication if it was just one official or others involved but I suspect it was just one.
