I think Mash has been underplaying his hand this week with regards to who is fit or not, strong line up for today with Dagger and Brown back and Jones-Bishop on the wing, surprisingly Teanby is 18th man.

looking forward to a good game in ideal conditions.

Well done Fax , good game plan and composure, Applegarth has got his work cut out to get this disjointed side back on the road.

Agree to a point, 0 from 3 in the league is not good, and we have two tricky away games coming up, hopefully Dags might be fit but I wouldn’t hold my breath on that one, he didn’t look good this afternoon walking up the steps at the LNER having been pulled prior to kick off, to be fair, Browny was ok at full back and had a safe pair of hands. It is in the middle where we seem to lack ideas, I think the opposition have sussed out Ata and close him down, last season we had Daley who could add a bit of flair but this season, up to now, we don’t, Cook gives it a good go but it just isn’t gelling at the moment. I would like to see the penalty count this week, we seemed to give quite a few away plus unforced errors that at times it looked like panic. Make no mistake we could have won that game , Halifax are good but nothing special. The kid from Saints at scrum half looks a very good prospect, Jouffret is reliable and their forwards give it their all, Hurrell was better when he had gone off the pitch, at least he wasn’t in the way. We seem to lack the cohesion and confidence that we had at the end of last season. Hopefully with a week off Mash will come up with something. It won’t be easy at Batley - never is.

Garbage.

Absolute garbage. No idea in attack or defence.

Defence was largely ok. Brown was out of position for their first and Hingano was all at sea for their second. Hingano had his worst game in a York shirt today, he knows he can do a lot better than that. I'm yet to see what Buchanan brings to this team though. Attack and discipline were both honking today, but thankfully we now have two weeks off to address it.

We looked like a side who had been thrown together at the last minute in attack and didn't deserve anything from the game .

Need to address the assistant coach to help Applegarth out as quickly as possible .

For at least 70 minutes today that was an embarrassing performance by our side, it was quite amazing that we were only 12 points down towards the end. Then, a good late try was like the kiss of life, a newly found enthusiasm that had been sadly lacking suddenly showed up, and Knight's fans woke up.  There seemed to be so much wrong today, especially in attack.  To me, Hingano appeared to be trying too hard at times but maybe because Liam seemed strangely subdued, offering little threat with ball in hand. But when we only have one forward consistently making any ground, Thommo as usual, then the halves are working with scraps.

All in all very poor from our team, a shame as the pre-match entertainment from the youngsters was excellent. A hell of a lot to work on.

Looking at today’s side I thought we would have played better.

Halifax played well and wanted it more, the forwards looked like they wanted to bust the tackle and they had much better line speed. Dixon for them got stuck in and the hooker made plenty of yards (something we lack since Daley left). Again, we’re playing Thompson at prop and it doesn’t work for me. It takes away the freedom he has.

Our attack is very clunky, it looks good with all the movement and angles but the opposition always read what’s happening and then we force the last pass.

Discipline is poor after getting back in the game we give away a high tackle and they end up scoring.

Quite a few players underperforming and we are lacking strength in depth. However, we started the same last season and look where we ended up!

Will we have anymore signings?

Keep the faith!

night n day that were compared to the last match. fax turned up n out battled us and out smarted us. which aint great. but well done to them. we made too many mistakes to win any match and the fact we were able to stay in the game till the final minute shows we do have ability.

we just need to put it all together consistently. our lack of go forward was the most concerning problem.

i fancy us to win on the top o the hill in two weeks time tho. its about time we got a result there.

up the kneets!

Well that was pretty disappointing. York tried hard, had plenty of ball and plenty of good field position but for 60 minutes (10 of that with a man in the bin), Halifax defended resolutely, leaving precious few gaps and just comfortably smothered everything we tried. I don’t particularly agree with the criticism on here of certain players. I thought everyone was putting the effort in, but it just wasn't happening today for some reason. Understandable that Dagger walking off the field without even warming up would have disrupted some attacking plans but Halifax earned the win by converting most of their chances into points. We just couldn't. I was pretty surprised we managed to get close to them at the end with a chance to nick it 5 minutes out - but the try at the hooter give the scoreline a much fairer reflection of the game if I'm honest. Things can, and will improve for us I'm sure....at least the weather was nice today.

Why can't we just have a good start to the season? Been watching 40 odd years and I'm still waiting to see one. No panic yet at all but it's so frustrating when we've obviously got a good side running around like headless chickens and serving up boring dross.

Two bang average attacking sides yesterday, Halifax made less mistakes and had better discipline which got them over the line, both teams were fairly decent in defence but didn't have to do much to nullify anything thrown at them, which wasn't much. That kid from St. Helens that Halifax have got on the never never looks a useful player, probably the best attacking player on the pitch.

We made more mistakes in the first 5 minutes than we did in the whole first half last week, which is what helped give Halifax the field position to wn. It's the senior players like Santi & Harris to blame for that this week, head high tackles, knock ons, passing the ball into touch, kicking out on the full. Not good enough but I'm sure they'll know it.

I'm sure Dagger pulling up in the warm up will have caused more issues that we can appreciate. Can't do anything about that but Brown has played more at full back for us since signing Dagger so it should have been pretty seamless. Hopefully when he's back fit he starts to show what he's capable of, bit sick of waiting but hopefully it'll come good.

Really need to sign another out and out fullback and stop putting in wingers daggers a good player but can never get a consistent run because of how unlucky he is injury wise if he needs surgery you’ll be looking at 4 months probably.

Myles harrison is an out and out full back and a pretty good one at that , plus browny was brought in from bradford whilst playing fullback, both can more than fill this position . yes dagger has been injury prone but has yet to show his true potential in a york shirt.

Never gonna show your true potential when you can’t string more than 3 games together he’s shown what he can do when he’s fit with his performances at Toulouse Fev Oldham(1895) and Wakefield as examples. We also can’t rely on myles yes good player but he’s another one who seems to be always injured shoulder last year Hamstring issues this year.Think another proven fullback is needed.

Attended both games and both fair results. Last week York were allowed to fly out of the defensive line. Ref failed to control it. Never seen McShane move as fast. Yesterday defensive line policed miles better by the ref. McShane nowhere to be seen. Lethargic performance by York yesterday. Two games in a week maybe too much for some of your older players.

The better side undoubtedly won yesterday, but 5 minutes from the end the Knights could have snatched an unlikely win. They had Fax 5 metres from their own line, but they then conceded 2 penalties in 2 successive sets to throw away any chance they may have had. Once again, discipline let them down when it mattered. Does anybody know why McShane wasn't goalkicking yesterday?

What's happened to the young full back we signed from KR?

This is the 3rd season we have started the season poorly and been hampered by a lengthy injury list ,don't know if it's down to the training facilities we are using or we just unlucky.

Think we're just unlucky , the majority of sides will use similar methods and facilties, always seem to start the season with very high expectations and rightly so , but as been alluded to were not that side that commendably excited the playoffs against wakefield last season.
