Very good crowd

Predictions for the future -

Crusaders RL to get a franchise for 2012 onwards -WRONG

Widnes Vikings also to get a franchise - RIGHT

Crusaders RL to do the double over Widnes and finish five places ahead of them -WRONG

Widnes Vikings NOT to dominate rugby league in years to come! STILL TO COME

I promise to pay 10 to the charity of Bomb Jacks choice if Widnes Millionaires finish above the battling underdogs Crusaders RL. I OWE A TENNER!

There's no way there's more than 35k here today,.........just saying

There are around 57-58k seats there but not all of them are open because of viewing angles and the fact that the stadium is half-way through transition to West Ham's stadium.

I really thought they'd crack 50k, but 45k is still immense for a stand alone game. Remember, it's only a few years since we got 42k for a double header in the 4 Nations.....given time we will fill the OP regularly and then look to move up to Wembley.

On TV the atmosphere came across as very flat.......they need to sort out the positioning of the microphones as you could hear the murmur of conversation sometimes....very odd.

I'd thought they would have had 50,000 today given all the advertising from the RFL went into this game.

I can sense your disappointment

Rugby Union the only game in the world were the spectators handle the ball more than the players.

Capacity was 49k, wasn't it? There were areas where they didn't sell seats due to restricted view in the upper corners and they chose not to sell the front rows which had both poor visibility and no roof.

It's changed a fair bit in the last few months; I thought the sightlines were fantastic and on the rare occasions when there was something to get excited about the place got pretty noisy.

The PA system did not work from the opening of the turnstiles once to the end of the game which was appalling that nobody tried to do something about it !

Using the screens which were good ,tried to lip read but still no clue what was being said! Atmosphere  is hard to create as it is an open sided stadium .Although scoring the disallowed try and consequential uproar was pretty loud!

Probably would sellout for Aus!

I was one of the volunteers manning the ticket desk today, handing out the tickets sold in the last few days. A lot of them were addressed to people living in London, Essex, Kent and Surrey. Invariably, whenever I asked a Northerner if they had been to the Olympic Stadium before, they replied in the negative, whereas a good proportion of the Southerners had been to either the Olympics or the union world cup. This leads me to conclude that lots of people who enjoy an event at top venues purchased tickets. Many of those purchases would undoubtedly have come about as a result of the marketing emails sent to Olympics and world cup mailing lists. Therefore that tactic used by the RFL did work and succeeded in enticing people who may not have considered watching a rugby league game before then.

One aspect that I appreciated was the more multicultural crowd than is often seen in rugby league games. Today, I spoke to people from Italy, Spain, Romania, Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Samoa, South Africa, Sweden, Hong Kong and a good number of British people from ethnic minorities. Let's have more events at the Olympic Stadium, because it is able to draw in people from a wide range of backgrounds.

Is this the best crowd for an England game outside the World Cup?

Good stadium. Terrible location. Tried it. Pass. Arsenal next time please. This is miles from a tube stop. Have to walk through a shopping centre. Poor acoustics

can only assume you got lost. Cant account for stupidity. Great location. Dont bother next time.

Spot on DT, this was an ideal location for an event; you could bring the family, spend some time in Westfield, eat before & after the game for reasonable prices and quality. Watch a film, go bowling, oh, and watch the greatest game as well. Could we say the same at Wembley, Emirates? No is the answer.

As for tube station and access, seriously? Never got in or out of a major stadium as easy in my life
