Tyrone Shoelaces
The Spitfire, Hurricane and Lancaster flew in formation quite low over my workplace a few years ago. The noise was absolutely deafening, you could hear them coming for ages so most of us went outside to see them flying over. What a squadron must have sounded like doesn't bear thinking about. I look forward to the first airshow exhibition on English soil from this plane. We might have some wait though. Used to love the Harrier over the seafront at the Southend Airshow. ckn
We're off to Italy in October with friends, I've made a soft promise to myself that I'll spend at least 30 minutes to one hour every day I'm working at home learning Italian through my Rosetta Stone tool. I find it embarrassing not being able to have at least basic conversations in a place I've been to more than once. Going once on holiday and not being able to speak the lingo is fine, going back more than once just embarrasses me if I'm still having to rely on them speaking some English. However, at some point it would be nice to not have to save my annual leave up for this! I think from what I've seen from the NHS thread, I can see why you would feel that way. That's still some distance away! With that said, the management at my company are actually very good - I think being a FTSE 100 company there's a lot of emphasis on developing management rather than just giving management roles as a reward for length of tenure. I wish my FTSE 100 company thought the same thing. Swim or drown. I know one very prominent FTSE 250 company that has two levels of management between the lowest rank and the CEO in most divisions. The teams organise in feral gangs and decided their own priorities. Easily the worst place I've ever worked in my entire life as it was impossible to get anything done. I literally had to sit on the corner of people's desk to get them to do company critical, time-sensitive work to stop them getting bored and going doing easy stuff instead. ckn
Apple have just refunded me £54 for a replacement battery I purchased for an iPhone last year as they cut the price from £79 to £25 and made the price cut retrospective. That was nice of them. "When in deadly danger, when beset by doubt; run in little circles, wave your arms and shout"
Bleep1673
Dear Diary, When I was in Millview there was a guitar on the ward, I strummed it tuneless, & enjoyed the sound. Afterwards my gf bought me a guitar to help my recovery, and bought me a guitar lesson book. I generally ignored it, until last month. A mate came to visit from London, and was struck by the Hastings music scene. Bought a guitar, and booked lessons near home. I'm not going to let a newby learn faster than me. It's competition time. My daughter plays the violin. She practices tunes 3x a day. So in her 9 year old shadow, I practice 4 tunes. It's helping.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly. Just mention this to any senior nurse or doctor and you'll instantly get the sort of care reserved for VIPs. It may not be in the type of hospital you planned but care is care... Spidey
All good as it seems with my new kidney.
