There are at least 4 streets and a pub in Hastings, named after Generals who fought in Afghanistan & India, are they going to change the names of Elphinstone & Havelock Roads, Robertson Street, and Wellington Place, and the Havelock pub. I also have my doubts about Carlisle Place being named after Lord Carlisle.

Whenever we visit Lytham St Annes this statue of Les Dawson just doesn’t seem to capture him. It’s a worthy statue that for us doesn’t quite capture him accurately from certain angles.

Apparently two thirds of the people in a street have to vote in favour of changing the street name for it to be legally changed.  I didn't know that until today.

This is a statue outside Beppu train station in Japan.

As if it wasn't disturbing enough, last time I was there it had been hideously defaced by some unpleasant radical scumbags.
