Leyther_Matt
If Sale Sharks and Salford City are considered to be the barometer of morality then the world really is in trouble, never mind RL.

DI Keith Fowler
I did initially think it might work out if they could build a grandstand with corporate boxes and hospitality etc. Then I looked at an aerial view of the ground... I was born to run a club like this. Number 1, I do not spook easily, and those who think I do, are wasting their time, with their surprise attacks. JohnM
A word or two about A J Bell. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/AJ_Bell I'm interested in that drive, that rush to judgment, that is so prevalent in our society. We all know that pleasurable rush that comes from condemning, and in the short term it's quite a satisfying thing to do, isn't it? J. K. Or just rent? Henson, as far as its reported, then Salford City Council own the land and the lease, whilst Salford City FC own the architecture above it. The suggestion is SCC acquire the stands, etc and lease it out to SRD. The AJ Bell stadium will be sold by SCC and Peel to SCFC and Sale Sharks. All parties are in negotiation and the feeling abound from SRD supporters that whilst this is carrying on, it is probably best not to speculate. Although it might be argued that cordiality exists between the three clubs and the Council and that it more the fine details being thrashed out. Whatever is agreed needs to have Kersal Moor residents at the heart of it. SCC should consider using any monies raised by the sale of the AJ Bell stadium to build facilities for both the local residents, the nearby school and SRD. You know hire-able 3g pitch, a community hub, etc. That and modernize the grounds. Festival style toilets aren't family friendly. Yeah a new grandstand please. If done right, this could turn out good for SRD and therefore for RL in general. Edited September 9, 2021 by idrewthehaggis

It is discussing sale union buying the AJ Bell. Here is one of the questions put the sale CEO. Q. How did we get to this point? It’s been an ambition of this club for a long time to own our stadium. We want a home with a brilliant atmosphere that the fans love to come to, and we want a stadium we are in control of. One of the options we looked at was building a new stadium at the Crossford Bridge Playing Fields, in Sale, but, as was well documented, Trafford Council withdrew its support for that plan last September. Mr Sutton said continuing to rent makes 'no financial sense' TED ART We firmly believe that if we’re going to continue growing the club on and off the pitch, we must invest into a home for Sale Sharks. Q. Why is it so important for Sale to own your own stadium? First and foremost, this is about the fan experience. We want to be able to control what we can do at the stadium and, at the moment, we are very limited in terms of what we can do with things like having a band outside, running fan parks, choosing the catering and that kind of thing. If we enhance the fan experience, we believe we’ll grow the fanbase, attract more fans to the AJ Bell and that will help us grow the club commercially too.T Also, renting makes no financial sense. We want a stadium where we can create other revenues other than from a match day. The financial structure of the existing lease agreement is not good for the club. This is all about ensuring the long-term viability of Sale Sharks. Owning our stadium is crucial to the future of the club. Reading that was probably the most depressing thing of the lot. The ambition and foresight in that guy's response is probably more than exists in the whole of SuperLeague, barring 3 or 4 clubs. Salford are clearly going to just stumble on to another rental agreement, and continue to own zero infrastructure or assets. Moor Lane is small time and it makes Salford small time. Willows 10K+ AJ Bell 12k and now Salford City 5k. This should be blocked by SL immediately. If Salford want to play in a 5k stadium it should be in the Championship.
Snowys Backside
Where are all the Belle view and Wheldon Rd nockers? I have to agree, no SL team should be playing or should be allowed to play in SL in such a poor facility. Saying that, they allowed London to play in that cesspit, so why not? All the away fans who can't get in will have to go fishing or something.

There needs to be vision from clubs to attract more fans. retracting to a smaller stadium suggests they need to take a step down to the championship or otherwise. I really feel for Salford. I like them. But fans are not showing up. I don't buy he whole 'AJ bell' is not in the right location. Fans travel wherever when they want to see their team play. Thats not the root problem. To be fair to Salford, especially under Ian Watson, they had been punching way above. I don't know what the disconnect is with attracting fans.

As for Wakefield, they need to present a serious plan as to their credibility to SL for me, and this stadium thats been muted for so so long. Castleford, on the other hand, attract a fanbase worthy of SL, regardless of their stadium. And contribute to great performance in SL. They are deserved SL status for me and a great rugby team. However, they do need a plan to modernise their stadium - an actual one that will happen!
Henson Park Old Firm
Maybe (money is a factor) they should do a promotional deal, become a 2 year season ticket holder and get a free jersey? Or, maybe talk with Man United and letting them buy into Salford Reds and they can be Man U official rugby league club or sell 50% the club to UAE or Russian businessman .. 3 stupid ideas but that's all I got. sweaty craiq
Being brutal its highly likely Salford are still in SL because they haven't paid other bills, but spent on players. Eg the default on the cva and I understand they still don't pay the full rent to the council (please correct if this is no longer the case) Anyone know what the selling price is for the stadium? idrewthehaggis
Apparently £15m Craiq. In joining this forum, my aim remains not to engage in Parksideresque rotating arguments that boil down to endless point scoring. The deal that SRD's famous Mr Salford owners dealt the Reds was appalling. Hubris, boosterism, followed by bankruptcy, a sharp sale of the the ground and then re-deployment to a very good stadium, but without any substantial revenue streams and a super optimistic, if not wildly stupid belief that crowds could double. I think it was mostly the famous Mr Salford's debts that he left the club that was dissolved last year. How much of the sale of the former ground went back to SRD is erm a curiosity for some. Sadly that deal is not negotiable. The future for SRD is either remain at a stadium which earns you little income and pay an increased and punishing cost or move out. As it stands, that entails either migrating to the Etihad Campus or to the Belle Vue speedway stadium. Or Moor Lane. They are all ######. But at least Moor Lane is (just) in Salford and would allow SRD revenue streams previously denied. As i have previously said, there are numerous issues with Moor Lane, but all of them are resolvable, if the Council, the club and the local community work together. Indeed a tidy, community orientated ground with numerous social facilities could be created here that would enhance not just RL, but this side of Salford/Manchester/Prestwich. I won't deny what you lads say, but let me propose this. Imagine if SRD were akin to York. Some of you would be saying look at these clubs. The latter in its new stadium and former in the biggest conurbation outside London, has been to two cup finals in the last few years , has a history of developing talent like Evalds, Fages, Hastings and has regular crowds of 4,000. Wants to run an Academy and has links with Ipswich Jets. All it needs is a proper grandstand and its York with bells. The potential is there. I don't think we can doubt that. If York is OK, so is Salford kids. Edited September 15, 2021 by idrewthehaggis
