Dare I say if West Wales were not a basket case of a club they'd be getting half decent crowds for L1 Llanelli is still the 8th largest population here, twice that of Whitehaven for example. They are still very much the economic and culturak centre of the West. 2 CARDIFF CITY RUGBY LEAGUE FOOTBALL CLUB cardiffrugbyleague.comBLUE BLUE BLUE DRAGONS!Rygbi Gynghrair Cymru am byth

Trying to preserve the dignity of the players is admirable. They don't deserve to be pilloried for being drawn into a mismatch. The organisation is out of it's depth and it's not the players fault. Comments like ''laughing stock'' really rankle with me. My own comment was just about the fact that having hearts like lions, isn't enough (on its own).
langpark
Oh dear. Forfeiting tomorrow's match. Official reason given: cannot find a match doctor. Sounds very strangr to me. Would "cannot find 17 able bodied players" have been a more honest answer? https://www.doncasterrugbyleague.co.uk/article/1119/postponed-|-west-wales-raiders-v-doncaster-rlfc

The article was short, just stated the match was called off due to no match doctor, followed by a quote from Carl Hall saying soemthing to the effect of: disappointing as we were looking to build on last week's performance. Also then thanked RFL for informing them promptly.

jannerboyuk
Hate to say it but this is the deathknell of the club. Personally i don’t think this was inherent in terms of location, just another bunch of owners who fail to understand the importance of getting the fundamentals right. Moscow01
I predicted they wouldn’t see the season out. There’s only so many 80 point defeats you can take as a player before you wonder what the hell the point is. The people in charge of this club have a passion for the sport but they are, I’m afraid to say, completely inept.
Jughead
I’m sure this isn’t even the first time this has happened under the Raiders guise. It’s shambolic. I’m all for new places playing rugby league and the game being played in unusual places but those in charge of West Wales, by all accounts, shouldn’t be allowed to run a bath let alone a rugby league club. iamguyster
3 minutes ago, langpark said: Maybe I am naive then. But are there no other doctors in West Wales?? Well my son was supposed to play, first game back after concussion at Swinton. He showed me the team list and was raring to go. He felt they had a good chance of making an impact this week against Doncaster with some injured players fit again, and suspensions back alongside a couple of loan signings. As for what the issue with doctors was, it might be worth waiting for a statement from WWR before jumping to conclusions.
