Only RL fans would moan about having one of the most recognisable women on the planet associated with the game, however loosely.

Its all about what you do, not who you are. Just being a patron and doing nothing like when the Queen was patron doesn't do anything for the sport, no matter how famous you may be. Most would have been blissfully unaware the Queen was even the patron. Harry embraced the role and did more in a very short time than the Queen did throughout and hopefully Kate will do the same.

lets give her a chance - handing over a trophy or 2 in a major final would be great- crikey whats wrong with people on here lately?

Exactly. Most of us forget there is a patron of RL for 364/365 days of the year, anything she does is a nice bonus. But presumably with Hazza out of the frame we would have been without one at the time of a home World Cup, so it must be a good thing we have renewed the royal connection.

And that's as someone who is a not a monarchist.

I can confirm 30+ less sales for Scotland vs Italy at Workington, after this afternoons test purchase for the Tonga match, £7.50 is extremely reasonable, however a £2.50 'delivery' fee for a walk in purchase is beyond taking the mickey, good luck with that, it's cheaper on the telly.

It’s great news for the game that Kate is now the patron, let’s hope she’s still associated with Rugby League when William ascends the Throne.

If I had a gripe, it would be at the RFL for being so slow that they are invisible (Guardians of the Galaxy style) and have allowed the RFu to grab all the headlines.

Indeed, it’s been an absolute after thought on tv all day that she is a patron for League as well as Union. The coverage all from Twickers, only Union people interviewed and so on. I get it’s the Six Nations this weekend but could they not have sent a couple of RL representatives down?

We’ll see how it all plays out I suppose. It can’t be a bad thing but just what it does bring is tough to quantify, especially if we don’t put ourselves forward on days like today.

The RFL should got in there first and invited her to the Tetley’s Stadium before the Union blazers had the chance to get her to Twickenham, would have been plastered all over the news.

I think Harry, his half brother and stepdad were deservedly given life membership’s at Saints. I regularly can hear Charlie moaning at the game about the horrible lager, and players not playing the ball properly, and the fan’s being too far away from the pitch.

I don’t really have any moans about it. I am not a royalist and I know next to nothing about her. I’m guessing she’s the one married to the bald one, not the ginger one. If she promotes the game, awards trophies, mentions Hunslet v Keighley in her next interview, or any other game, get on.

It would be great to get more rich folk interested in the game, maybe some Saudis too. Then they can pump endless sums of money into our game.

And so we shall again…

The Saudis have an appalling record on Human Rights really are misogynistic, homophobic, and are engaging in mass murder in the Yemen.

Their sportswashing is going tickety boo, courtesy of Newcastle United, where, rather disgracefully,Super League are taking a Magic Weekend.

You socialist,anti-fascist folk continue to impress with such hypocrisy and money addiction.

Rugby  League is inclusive.Something about discrimination...?

No reserves, but resilience, persistence and determination are omnipotent.

FFS. What's up with some of you,? The original thread was locked by the mod and the reason for doing so was given.

Reads to me like some of you haven't seen the video that featured in that thread, that was shown on BBC Breakfast TV this morning along with the quite lengthy interview with Ralph Rimmer.

😡😡

I think the main problem for me is that she seems to be the "figurehead" for both the RFU and the RFL. As soon as I see a picture of her in a Workington top I'll change my mind, but until then, and based on the fact that all the PR photos I've seen are purely Union related, I suspect she doesn't even know there are two different sports.

She's taken Harrys duties so he was also involved in both. Thought we were trying to attract new fans - not scare them away.
