I agree with Damien on this one. Powell is a solid, dependable 9, but he has never been good enough to be Wigans first choice for so many years.

If he wasn't a Wigan trained player, they would have let him go a long time ago IMO.

Exactly.

Thanks for the info. So Powell will be back up to Walker at the wire, and Saints have Signed Clark. This transfer merry go round makes a lot of sense. Anyone understanding Warrington wolves transfer business here? Getting rid of Clark for Powell?

I imagine Clark would have preferred to  move to Saints to win SL😉. No ideas on salaries between the two, but Saints need someone to cover adequately in the short term before their new Roby comes off their production line*.

From Wire's side.. I am not sure of what they gain - a steady 9 when Walker needs spelling? I don't think it is a great signing from a team that are trying to win SL. But I guess they may see his experience as being valuable for Walker as they are quite different in their skill sets, etc.

*(Just for clarification, I have no idea who is on the Saints production line)

Money,Clarke was a high paid player for Warrington, and Walker had become first choice and Clarke wanted to be first choice.

You are not going to tie up a large section of salary cap for the interchange Hooker.

Not necessarily, Wire have also re-signed Dwyer I was hoping Leigh had gone for Dwyer there would not be much rest for the defenders If Ipape and Dwyer were interchange hookers.

You don’t need Dwyer, Leigh have a great structured attack, Dwyer would absolutely ruin that. He’s full of heart, does a flashy run now and then but that’s it.

Maybe under a better coaching set up/game plan, and team mates more suited to his style, no disrespect to either Leeds or Hull FC recently but they did not seem to suit him. As I said - in my opinion - he and Ipape could be very good for each other and cause the opposition problems, but it doesn't happen he has gone to Wire.

Harry he’s not changed under 3 clubs and numerous coaches, trust me he’s not what Leigh needs.

I’m not sure why you think Leighs coaching set up is better than some that he’s played under? He’s played under some of the best coaches ever to coach in SL

I do like Dwyer. I rate him more than Powell. Dwyer provides a number of options for sides he plays for. He would of been a good Signing for Leigh. So Warrington have signed Dwyer and Powell and have a highly rated prospect in Walker. Again does anyone understand the wolves transfer business here?

Powell is a very bad signing for them. It seems Burgess does not rate Walker, or Walker wants out. I would not be surprised by that. As the wolves have really gone backwards as team for the past couple of years. They don't seem to be title contenders.

Powell is a far better hooker than Dwyer.

Dwyer won’t be with Warrington for very long imo

Ipape regularly played 60+ minutes last season. Signing someone like Dwyer would be an incredible waste of money

Because we only played fill in hookers for the interchange not specialists in that position, think about it.

Joe Mellor had an exceptional season last year coming off the bench for Ipape, his attack and defence both superb. We also have Aaron Smith contracted for next year but he never seemed to get a look in after a brilliant championship campaign in 2022.

With Davis and now young Ben Macnamara for cover I’m not sure we need another hooker although rumours of Dwyer on loan won’t go away.

Personally I see Dwyer and a prop going to Salford in exchange for Partington.

Wakefield supposedly after Dean Lawford from Bradford. Strange one for me this.

Does it matter?

I think Wakefield are nailed on to take a place in SL next year, but once there, it will not be nessacary to avoid relegation as on the field of play, you are a victim of good timing.

I think you're right, but after fifty years of bad timing it's taking some getting used too. I think a lot of Trinity fans are yet to realise that we can actually build for two or three seasons time, not just tomorrow, this along with young Pratt and Smith are example of this. These signings are not really for now. A genuine sign of future ambition IMHO, but it won't be these lads who will keep us competitive in the Championship.

Myles Lawford is a really promising halfback or fullback. Kicks goals for fun.

The club keeps signing props when we've got a really promising one in Marcus Green.

Both have been rarely used this season ... following a long history of wasting the talent in our Academy and allowing other clubs to snap up the bargains.

Dwyer is terrible. Lots of heart, lots of enthusiasm, but the amount of basic errors and bad decisions he makes is criminal. His game awareness is nil.

He's 30 now, he's played for several clubs under some really good coaches. He isn't going to change at this stage.

The kid (Myles) is a gun, I am baffled by Bradford's treatment of him.

Treatment of him?

Hes a young kid loads of potential but behind Lilley and Gaskell in the halves.

Hes out of contract been offered a hugely improved deal, its up to the lad him self where he sees his future
