Chuffed with how the series has gone. We had a mate in that WC semi and everything that went before was forgotten but it had been so enjoyable until that point. Glad we’ve got back on track this last few weeks.

So what's the rules on that disallowed try? The video ref was saying something about it slipping out/off the hand and down the wrist/arm. I could tell he was going to give No Try, based on what he was saying.

Either way, Whitehead will be gutted not to have made a cleaner job of grounding it.

The rules were that the video ref, under the current system, largely exists to confirm whatever the on-field ref gave.

The technical reason is that there was separation between ball and hand and Whitehead didn't regain control of the ball.

Unless the rules have changed, it was a try as far as I'm concerned.

His hand and arm were always in contact with the ball so he never lost contact with it.
