Time to move the Grand Final (Merged Threads)

I guess we will be very useful to utd as they try to get some government funding to build a new stadium. Being able to say it’s for other sports as well and more like a national stadium in the north can’t hurt. Can we use that to get a good deal to play in any new stadium if it happens.

Now what?

"No-one can come up with a venue of similar size in the North." We don't need a ground that holds 75,000, how many times over the years has it been full to capacity? The Eitihad or Newcastle would be just as good and make it a 3 o'clock kick off as well.

Do Sky want a 3pm kick-off? I very much doubt that.

Personally I don't go to the grand final last few years as the stadium is so poor service/facilities wise, e.g. when the missus and other ladies have to use the men's toilets as the queues so long for the ladies, the standard food fare is poor, etc etc...even used the hospitality and yep the staff were great the facility is poor relative to other comparable stadiums.

I'd pay more for a ticket in better stadium...   OT reminds me of the slow demise of RL stadiums not caring about the average attendee and the facilities get worse and people new to the sport won't bother with the facilities whilst we idiots put up with it... when you wouldn't for other entertainment venues.

Agreed...my last one was the Saints Vs Leeds final....admittedly cheaper tickets than I sometimes have had but it's so run down and awful

What the heck have MU done with all the billions of money they make? Crazy that Spurs, City, Arsenal etc have such sensational places and OT is such an absolute shambles

Is it the fact they know they will sell regardless so why bother ? I assume they could probably double the prices if tickets and still sell out

And that's the question too...

Once they had done up / rebuilt will we still.be welcome

If they guarantee that but let us use another good stadium for now I can be back in the game for OT

Etihad for the grandfinal and anfield and st James park for challenge cup final on rotation for me.

Anfield should be bulldozed and any talk of prestige RL games going there should forever be banished, it's an awful stadium in an awful area.

It's been revamped and is 61k capacity. Seems pointless disagreeing you but it's moved with the times while retaining a traditional feel which is more than can be said for Old Trafford.

Neither stadium seems to have leg room for anybody over 5 foot 8. I avoid both now

The spurs stadium is brilliant.. and what Ratcliffe will use as a blue print for a new old Trafford without a doubt.. plus extras..

Wouldn't mind the challenge Cup going there but the grand final in london wouldn't work IMHO.

Have you been in either of the two new stands?

Probably not - I've been in various places in Old Trafford, including "posh" seats all with the same issue

Last game I went to at Anfield was the New Zealand test (whatever that year was) in the main stand, if there wasn't a child in our row I don't think 8 blokes would have fitted in the seats it was so cramped - wasn't like we were all 6 foot plus either

I've not been to many football grounds - but the likes of Newcastle, Wembley & City were far more comfortable when I've been (same with Murrayfield, Cardiff, Twickenham...)

The two new stands at Anfield have the leg space you are looking for. They're vastly improved.

And the other two certainly don't. In a discussion about the faults of Old Trafford its weird for anyone to push Anfield when two of the stands are poor and far worse for legroom than any seat I've had at Old Trafford.

Oh yeah I'm absolutely not advocating Anfield for the Grand Final, I'm just saying the stadiums can, and do, improve.

Probably not I agree but at some point they have to think of the fans. I've been to many Grand Finals and getting back to Manchester City Centre and then on to Leeds was a nightmare, so much so I've said I'll never go to one again.

Yet the majority of regular SL fixtures kick off 2 hours later than the Grand Final.

There are a couple of new tram stops Harbourside and Imperial War Museum IIRC which make it easier to get back to the city centre after the match.
