Cougars sack their coach

Just heard the news that Keighley have sacked their head coach due to 'poor performances'. They are top of the league and have lost once all season. Did the same last year and ended up being relegated. Officially the strangest club in RL.

Absolutely buts decision and they clearly haven't learnt from when they sacked Rhys Lovegrove last season. There just aren't enough active coaches in RL to be that gung-ho in ditching coaches at the first sign of adversity

The gap between the Keighley owners' perception of where their club is, and the rest of the RL world's opinion (including probably most Cougar fans) is yawning.

Not content with sabotaging last season's promising Championship campaign with a coach sacking, leading to relegation, they are now sacking a coach in League 1 who has them top of the table, in a season that was supposed to be all about Oldham.......

His 5 year contract was a coaching contract. He isn’t the coach now, so maybe not?

You could be right but as alluded to above they were after the coaches at Midlands Hurricanes. At this point I doubt the owners of Cougars have a clue what they are doing.

I can almost guarantee that Henderson to Keighley won’t happen for 3 reasons,”;

1 - the bloke can’t coach 

2 - the owners blame him for going wildly over budget 

3 - he wouldn’t allow himself to be subservient to his former player

 

i also hope to god they were sniffing around the Hurricanes set up, i genuinely don’t rate them either.

Not very professional to hang out all your dirty laundry not only for this parting of the ways but for the previous incumbent too. I would be very surprised if any decent coach would want to put themselves in that position. Some things should stay private, no matter what some fans think, they don’t need to know everything.
