Watched a lot of Hellec over the winter. His link play is very good, it’s his defence that lets him down. Hopefully Eccles can work on that - otherwise a good signing.

Will be interesting to see where he plays. If at fullback with maybe alex walker moving to the centres (unlikely), then Eccles will need to work on his self-belief in defence. Fullback is such a confidence position. Just needs the Eccles magic.
Alternatively, I can see him playing either as a utility or at 5/8 defending out wider.

As much as I like Walker, he is our weakest player under contract right now.

I was hoping to see more from him Vs Goole but it was the same as the last few years, indecisive and slow.

Yeah I know what you mean. Thing is, he’s strong under the high ball and in defense. If I was Eccles I’d be trying to create as many one on one opportunities for Walker close to the line to barge over. He’s a big enough body. I’d be lining him up to run straight at the defending halves.

More loan signings this coming week and permanents to follow. Investment WILL happen but no details or confirmation as yet. Over grand raised via raffle/auction on the night. V impressed by M Eccles.

With the good news coming from Salford, London your up next.

I don't think The Lyell brigade have done picking holes in the successful Salford outcome yet, despite the corpse being revived.

Surprised they found it necessary to call him a trialist. He's played many seasons in league 1 with Hemel, Skolars and last year with Cornwall, hardly an unknown quantity.

Because he was?

Surely London are waiting to see if they’ll get some of their former players back on season long loans. Who is unlikely to crack first team? Leylands, Sam Davis, anyone else?

I guess it depends on what his contract says.

It could be a minefield as regards his contract as it might have come to an end or perhaps there might be something in his contract that says he can move to a championship club if one comes in for him.

I hope he's read his contract front to back and i hope both clubs have as well.

"slammed" seems dramatic when reading the quotes.

Which suggests to me that they expect the takeover to be complete in 2 weeks and new players arriving.

That’s a reasonable assumption, especially as there’s been talk of a takeover potentially influencing player recruitment and squad changes. If the Broncos expect a takeover to be finalised soon, it’s quite possible that new players could be coming in as part of that change in ownership, either for reinforcements or a fresh direction.  Given the squad’s current state and the management’s efforts to sort out the pack and loanees/trialists, it wouldn’t be surprising if the new owners want to make an impact quickly, possibly looking to bring in fresh NRL talent to strengthen the team. However, unless there’s any official confirmation, it’s just speculation, but it makes sense with the direction the club’s moving in.  I suspect what are you hearing from your sources is pure speculation/guesswork.

Seems a bit late in the day for a major squad infusion, most players are now tied up surely, incl in Oz? Even if the deal goes through soon, it'll likely be a patch and mend season of loan and castoffs, with the real change coming in 2026.
